Job Title: Financial Controls Associate

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-Time

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 - Depending on Qualifications

Location: ATL Airport / Hybrid



Position Description Summary:


The Financial Controls Associate works directly with the project managers, program controls directors, and project controls staff in support of the project’s financial goals and objectives. This includes project setup, work plan coordination, contract administration, measuring and reporting progress, and analyzing cost or budgetary deviations. This position will also participate in discussions with the Project Team and Management on the status of the project financials to identify project risks and opportunities that can impact the contribution to the overall project schedule, budget and reimbursement process.

The Associate will prepare and/or support preparation of project budget and financial updates, cashflow forecasts, budget to actual trends, spending forecasts and various monthly project financial reports. Requires the ability to analyze contract terms, review and audit invoices related to those contracts, identify cost trends, and interpret change order and schedule impacts. This information will be reported accurately and timely between clients, stakeholders, financial controls staff and to the project manager(s).

Requirements:

Essential Function(s) of the Position:

  • Initiate and support in the review, approval, and execution of project related contracts and applicable change orders.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate invoice reviews and approval processes.
  • Assist in the monthly reporting process, including but not limited to budget to actual, project spend trends and cashflow analysis, submitting a draft report for discussion with management.
  • Initiates project financial summaries and phasing set up with support from the project manager(s); advises the team in policies, standards, methodologies, and processes.
  • Maintain proper project records and contract files.
  • Help identify, resolve and guide appropriate staff on billing disputes and required corrections on draft invoice packages.
  • Assist the project manager(s) in developing and maintaining the project workflow(s) and plan(s) to ensure project schedule and financials are reported accurately.
  • Performs miscellaneous reconciliations of project financials, as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of reports and presentations and aids in budgeting process.
  • Ensure smooth workflows and operations by identifying needs, reporting any issues, and informing management of necessary actions required for improvement.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Project Management Team and contractors/consultants to assist with troubleshooting various invoicing issues.
  • Act as owner representative and perform required data entries related to the Client’s financial system(s).
  • Present financial data while participating in project meetings and/or audits of financial information, as required.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High School Degree required. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or another related field is preferred. Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirements
  • Advanced systems skills – SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite – particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of VantagePoint, standard project management software (Procore, Prolog, Bluebeam, etc.), or a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus
  • 4-7 years of relevant work experience is preferred
