ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Sr. Professional Billing Analyst for a 6-month remote contract, available to candidates in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Texas, or Florida. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary liaison between operational and technical teams, gathering and assessing business requirements and workflows for Epic system functionality. You will drive process improvements and innovation, configure and maintain Epic applications, and develop subject matter expertise within assigned modules. The role involves mentoring junior analysts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing workflows and reporting, overseeing user security, and ensuring data integrity. You will also support system upgrades, integrations, and lead testing and validation efforts. Additional responsibilities include developing training materials, maintaining vendor communications, managing projects, and promoting continuous learning and professional development. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, with a proactive approach to learning and system enhancement.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Serve as the primary liaison between operational and technical teams to gather and assess business requirements and workflows for Epic system functionality.
  • Collaborate with operations and cross-functional IT teams to promote process improvements and innovation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes, procedures, and communication channels that support customer service, quality, safety, and team performance.
  • Configure, customize, and maintain assigned Epic applications based on organizational needs, industry best practices, and advanced domain knowledge.
  • Configure Epic solutions to meet caregiver and patient needs through collaboration with Epic representatives, IT teams, caregivers, operational leaders, and subject matter experts.
  • Develop subject matter expertise within assigned Epic modules and mentor junior Epic analysts on solution standards and best practices.
  • Evaluate Epic Nova Notes and implement new features through system build, configuration, and testing.
  • Partner with analytics to develop and analyze reports that optimize Epic data and support report adoption by caregivers.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities through ongoing operational reviews.
  • Participate in assigned 24x7 on-call rotation to maintain system integrity and availability.
  • Participate in and oversee Epic user security assignments to ensure users have appropriate system access, adhering to all organizational data security and confidentiality policies.
  • Perform in-depth workflow analysis, data collection, and technical troubleshooting for supported Epic modules, understanding downstream impacts on end users, clinical workflows, and other IT teams.
  • Lead or facilitate system testing, validation, and troubleshooting following QA standards, and identify workflow gaps to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate and complete data flow between Epic and third-party systems (e.g., medication cabinets, robotics, genetics, laboratory, billing systems), resolving interface discrepancies and developing new integration solutions.
  • Support system upgrades, implementations, and third-party integration projects, including evaluating and implementing new Epic features through build and testing.
  • Develop and follow processes that ensure data quality and promote adoption of system tools and reports.
  • Lead and conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting for Epic and related solutions, creating and maintaining testing and validation standards in collaboration with testing resources.
  • Support integrations involving APIs, HL7, EDI, file exchanges, and proprietary interfaces, and promote best practices for data migration and change control.
  • Partner with training teams to develop and deliver Epic training materials, lead communication and coordination for training activities, and educate peers and operational partners on system functionality and best practices.
  • Maintain regular communication with Epic Technical Support regarding system issues, maintenance, implementations, and optimization efforts, and serve as a primary point of contact for vendors supporting system implementation and maintenance.
  • Participate in and lead system development, upgrades, implementations, and third-party integration projects, managing small projects and contributing to larger initiatives as assigned.
  • Partner with Project Management and IT leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, and lead implementation of new Epic functionality through vendor documentation review and system configuration.
  • Mentor analysts by providing guidance on application knowledge, problem solving, testing, implementation, workflow design, and system build coordination.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning business processes and supported technologies, staying current on Epic roadmaps, release documentation, and healthcare technology trends.
  • Partner with leadership and operational teams to identify opportunities for system enhancements, develop expertise beyond day-to-day operational support, and educate stakeholders on system capabilities.
  • Recommend enhancements based on Epic industry trends and emerging technologies, and present updates to internal teams, operational partners, and conferences as opportunities arise.
  • Maintain required Epic certifications/accreditations and complete all continuing education and new version training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Responsibilities may vary based on business needs.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience with Epic application configuration, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Epic certification(s) in relevant modules required or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
  • Proven experience in business requirements analysis and workflow assessment for Epic systems.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional IT, operations, and vendor teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior analysts and end users.
  • Experience with Epic user security, access management, and data confidentiality policies.
  • Proficiency in workflow analysis, data integrity, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting system upgrades, implementations, and third-party integrations.
  • Knowledge of APIs, HL7, EDI, and other healthcare integration standards.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation as required.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and maintaining Epic certifications/accreditations.
  • Ability to work remotely from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Texas, or Florida.
