Job description

Objective:       To provide care giving services and to help clients maintain their independence and to assist them with household and family support services.

Reports To:    Scheduling Coordinator

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Companionship & conversation
  • Light Housekeeping
  • Household management
  • Errands
  • Apparel selection (laying out clothes)
  • Meal planning & preparation
  • Laundry & linen changing
  • Medication reminders
  • Transportation using client’s or your own vehicle
  • In sleep-over or live in situations: prepare client sleeping area at night
  • Document activities in the Daily Documentation Log (if applicable).
  • Record daily hours worked and daily services performed on the Weekly Time Sheet, review with client and submit the signed form every Monday by 1:00 p.m.
  • Report any significant client changes to the office immediately.
  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Senior Helpers Employee Handbook and Training Manual.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School graduate
  • Must be 18 years of age or over
  • Ability to treat clients with dignity and respect
  • Ability to read, write and speak English at an average adult level
  • Ability to drive vehicle to get to work
  • Valid driver’s license with no serious driving violations; current care insurance.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations and locations

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb steps
  • Ability to withstand exposure to dust, mold, mildew and cleaning solutions
  • Ability to adapt to various environments and locations
  • Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner.
