Job description

Job Summary:
Tactile Medical specializes in developing at-home therapy devices for various medical conditions. They are seeking a Data Platform Engineer to build and operationalize a modern data platform using Microsoft Fabric, ensuring reliability and efficiency while collaborating with data engineers and BI teams.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design and maintain Microsoft Fabric workspace standards, including dev/test/prod environments and naming conventions
โ€ข Configure and support core platform components such as pipelines, datasets, semantic models, and Lakehouse architecture
โ€ข Develop and document reusable platform patterns and best practices to promote consistency and scalability
โ€ข Partner with the Data Architect to implement and operationalize enterprise architecture standards
โ€ข Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from multiple source systems
โ€ข Implement scalable data integration solutions across disparate systems
โ€ข Apply medallion architecture and other modern data engineering practices
โ€ข Contribute hands-on development to support platform and data delivery needs
โ€ข Establish and maintain platform monitoring practices, including pipeline failures, dataset refreshes, and dependencies
โ€ข Configure alerts, dashboards, and runbooks to proactively identify and resolve issues
โ€ข Troubleshoot platform performance, reliability, and operational challenges
โ€ข Improve overall platform stability to ensure a consistent and trusted user experience
โ€ข Implement and maintain role-based access controls across workspaces and datasets
โ€ข Support onboarding, access changes, and offboarding through standardized processes
โ€ข Monitor and optimize platform usage, balancing cost, performance, and scalability
โ€ข Contribute to governance practices that ensure secure and responsible data usage
โ€ข Mentor data engineers and technical team members on platform standards, patterns, and best practices
โ€ข Partner with cross-functional teams to support adoption and effective use of the data platform
โ€ข Communicate platform capabilities and constraints clearly to technical stakeholders
โ€ข Help establish processes and standards in a growing, evolving data environment
โ€ข Participate in platform and data strategy discussions
โ€ข Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and platform capabilities
โ€ข Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
โ€ข 5+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or data platform engineering
โ€ข Experience working with Microsoft Fabric or related technologies (e.g., Azure Data Factory, OneLake, Synapse, Power BI)
โ€ข Strong hands-on experience building data pipelines (ETL/ELT) across multiple systems
โ€ข Experience implementing data integration and transformation solutions in a scalable environment
Preferred:
โ€ข Experience designing and implementing modern data architectures (e.g., medallion architecture, Lakehouse)
โ€ข Familiarity with enterprise data platforms supporting analytics and BI use cases
โ€ข Experience working in mid-sized organizations or environments requiring both hands-on work and strategic contribution
โ€ข Exposure to regulated industries such as healthcare or medical device
