  • Establish application governance, ownership, and lifecycle management practices to ensure long-term scalability, adoption, and operational excellence.

Leadership and Team Development
  • Provide strategic, hands-on leadership for the enterprise applications organization, including Application Services, Instructional Technology, and the Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring alignment, execution, and operational excellence across all teams.
  • Build and scale the applications organization, including hiring critical roles and optimizing team structure
  • Build business analysis, requirements gathering, and product ownership capabilities within the applications organization to strengthen solution delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Upskill existing leadership by providing mentorship and guidance

Technology Acceleration and Execution
  • Increase speed and quality of application implementations, addressing current resource and execution gaps
  • Introduce agile, product-oriented delivery models where appropriate
  • Ensure applications are positioned to support rapid institutional growth and scalability
  • Drive organizational change management and user adoption efforts to ensure successful implementation of new technologies and evolving business processes.

Vendor and Partner Management
  • Develop and manage strategic relationships with key application vendors and consulting partners
  • Leverage external partners (e.g., Moodle consultants, offshore resources) to accelerate delivery
  • Hold SaaS vendors accountable for delivering innovative capabilities, including AI-driven functionality, automation, and platform enhancements that support institutional priorities.

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the executive liaison for enterprise application initiatives, facilitating requirements workshops, prioritization discussions, and technology roadmap planning with senior academic and administrative leaders.
  • Act as a visible and proactive technology leader across the university
  • Partner with academic and administrative leadership to understand needs and translate them into solutions
  • Improve IT's reputation as a strategic, solution-oriented partner rather than a reactive function

Job Requirements
  • Experience with nationally recognized universities or enterprise organizations undergoing significant digital transformation, organizational growth, or enterprise application modernization.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher required
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with significant focus on enterprise applications
