Controller – Shortened Job Description
The Controller manages all bookkeeping and financial operations for the company, ensuring accurate records, timely reporting, and full compliance with accounting standards. This role requires commercial construction accounting experience and strong QuickBooks proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction billing — Prepare and submit payment applications, AIA billing, progress billings, retainage tracking, and internal invoices for commercial construction projects.
- QuickBooks management — Handle AP, AR, job‐costing, payroll, bank reconciliations, and monthly/quarterly financial reporting.
- Job‐cost tracking — Maintain accurate cost coding, track labor/material/subcontractor expenses, and support project managers with budget updates.
- Vendor & subcontractor compliance — Manage COIs, W‐9s, subcontractor invoices, and payment schedules.
- Receivables & collections — Monitor delinquent accounts and ensure timely payment.
- Payroll administration — Process payroll twice monthly and maintain employee records.
- Financial reporting — Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements; prepare data for tax filings and audits.
- Record maintenance — Maintain organized financial files, contract labor records, and construction contract performance data.
- General compliance — Submit required IRS and TWC reports on time; adhere to all company policies.
