This designation demonstrates expertise in the unique financial management challenges and standards specific to construction, such as job costing, project management, and risk assessment. Earning the CCIFP credential shows a commitment to professional growth and a deep understanding of construction finance, making it highly respected within the industry. Candidates must meet experience requirements and pass a comprehensive exam to become certified.

  • Job Costing & Budgeting: Track project expenses (labor, materials, and overhead) against initial budgets and develop cost codes to improve future bids.
  • Financial Reporting & WIP Schedules: Consolidate data into comprehensive statements for stakeholders, lenders, and bonding companies, focusing heavily on Work-In-Progress (WIP) schedules.

  • Specialized Tax Strategy: Utilize industry-specific tax deductions, manage diverse revenue recognition methods (like the percentage-of-completion method), and navigate multi-state complexities.
  • Audit & Compliance Support: Prepare for and support both internal and external audits by reconciling project-level performance and ensuring internal controls are effective.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education & Licensing: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. An active CPA designation is highly preferred, along with the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) credential.
  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of accounting or finance experience, specifically in general contracting or heavy civil construction environments.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of construction-specific software and tools.
