Job description

Davis Tool is looking for a Commodity Specialist for our leadership pipeline who wants to be challenged and perform hands on work including strategic sourcing, manufacturing and engineering support, day to day quoting and buying of materials and services, with a heavy focus on purchasing contracts and supplier management. This is an experienced level position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Own supplier relationship management, including supplier performance metrics.
  • Develop long-term supply strategies for critical components/materials, including dual sourcing and contingency planning.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering to identify new suppliers, analyze proposals, negotiate prices and delivery, and ensure timely receipt of materials.
  • Quote and procure materials and services at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need, and negotiate supplier contracts as appropriate

Competencies:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or equivalent education; or an Associates Degree in equivalent field with a minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of previous Supplier Management experience
  • Analytical Problem Solving and Leadership skills
  • Proficient in using Spread Sheets, Word Processing, and E-mail software
  • Proficient and adept with planning / scheduling using MRP systems. APICS training is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
