Medical Lab Scientist 
in Indianapolis

Are you an experienced Medical Lab Scientist or a Medical Lab Tech with additional certifications looking for something different? This role in a high-volume pediatric blood bank may be for you!

As a Medical Lab Scientist, you will:

  • Perform  ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, antibody identification, and crossmatching for a high-volume blood bank.
  • Manage inventory of blood products, supply levels, proper storage conditions, and regulatory compliance while minimizing product waste.
  • Respond to emergency transfusion protocol activation, providing timely blood product support in critical patient care situations.
  • Investigate and resolve complex serologic discrepancies, transfusion reactions, and incompatible crossmatches in collaboration with pathologists and clinical teams.
  • Conduct quality control, equipment maintenance, and proficiency testing in accordance with accreditation standards and blood bank policies.

A few must-haves for Medical Lab Scientists:

  • Active license within the state of Indiana- ASCP-BB*, ASCP-MLS,
  • Accepting MLT under the following conditions: They will need to be ASCP-MLT AND ASCP-BB certified with Blood Bank experience in large facility.  
  • 1-2 years of recent and related experience, as required by facility
  • Must be able to work independently, yet together as part of a team
  • Must be able to remain calm under pressure
  • Proficient at taking vital signs and administering medication accordingly
  • Active BLS, physical, TB test, and other medical compliance as required by facility
