Job description

Title: Electronic (Lab) Technician
Location: La Grange, IL
Hire Type: Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Compensation: $45–$60/hour

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electronic (Lab) Technician to provide hands-on laboratory support for hardware and software engineering teams in a controlled lab environment. This role focuses on supporting design of experiments related to new product verification, validation, and continuous product improvement initiatives.
The position plays a critical role in building and executing test setups, maintaining lab equipment, and supporting engineering teams with data collection and analysis. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate testing, reliable results, and efficient lab operations while maintaining a safe and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities
• Build test fixtures and wiring harnesses to support engineering design of experiments and product validation
• Set up and execute complex test configurations for electronic equipment
• Administer functional, thermal, and vibration testing
• Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Conduct electromechanical measurements within lab electrical systems
• Plan and manage preventative maintenance for lab equipment
• Monitor and measure performance of electrical and electronic equipment
• Manage lab equipment inventory and ensure proper tracking
• Perform soldering and PCB repair work as needed
• Maintain 5S standards and overall organization within the lab environment
• Provide support for electrical test floor operations and activities
• Collaborate with engineering teams to support product testing and improvement initiatives

Qualifications
• Associate’s degree (2-year technical degree required; engineering degree not required)
• Experience with electric motor drives and control systems
• Knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical panels and power distribution
• Experience working with electromechanical systems
• Strong background in maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment
• Understanding of electrical, electronic, and mechanical technical standards
• Ability to complete tasks efficiently with a high level of quality and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.)
