A Brief Overview
The Risk Data Analyst provides specialized data analysis, reporting, and system support to the Risk Management, Patient Safety, and Regulatory/Accreditation programs across Stormont Vail Health. This position supports proactive risk identification by collecting, validating, sorting, analyzing, and visualizing reported claims, incident reports, near misses, risk assessments, complaints, regulatory findings, and other safety-related data to identify potential risk factors before they reach or impact the patient. The Risk Data Analyst transforms complex data into actionable insights that support leaders in prioritizing risk, reducing harm, strengthening safety culture, and meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements. This role also maintains, troubleshoots, configures, and supports the Risk Management safety event and contract management system.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Data Analytics, Informatics, or related field. Five (5) years' work experience in a related field may be substituted for education. Required
- Master's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- 2 years Experience working with data analytics, risk management, claims analysis, quality, patient safety, healthcare operations, finance, business, or related field. Required
- 2 years Experience integrating, analyzing, validating, and presenting large amounts of data or information to various audiences. Required
- Experience working in a healthcare environment, risk management system, claims management process, safety event reporting system, or contract management system. Preferred

What you will do
- Collects, validates, sorts, and analyzes reported claims, incident reports, near misses, complaints, risk assessments, regulatory findings, and other risk and safety data to identify potential risk factors before they reach or impact the patient.
- Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of risk and safety data to identify patterns, trends, emerging exposures, high-risk processes, and opportunities for proactive intervention.
- Conducts deep-dive analyses on reported claims, safety events, near misses, and high-risk operational processes to support early identification, prioritization, escalation, and mitigation of organizational risk.
- Supports root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis, regulatory/accreditation reviews, claims investigations, and other Risk Management processes by preparing accurate data summaries, case information, trend analysis, and reports.
- Develops and maintains dashboards, scorecards, user access, recurring reports, ad hoc reports, and data visualizations to communicate risk indicators, safety trends, claims activity, and program outcomes to leaders and stakeholders.
- Configures, troubleshoots, updates, and supports the safety event and contract management system using Point and Click Configuration UI, including system functionality, workflow triggers, calculated logic, data fields, and reporting tools.
- Collaborates with Risk Management, Patient Safety, Quality, Regulatory/Accreditation, clinical, operational, and functional leaders to clarify data needs, validate findings, support reporting requirements, and promote proactive risk reduction.
- Prepares, maintains, and monitors confidential risk, safety event, claims, contract, and other Risk Management files in accordance with department guidelines and organizational policy.
- Supports preparation for regulatory surveys, audits, CMS complaint responses, internal process reviews, and accreditation-related requests by gathering, compiling, validating, and summarizing data.
- Participates in meetings, committees, audits, rounding, tracers, or process evaluations as assigned to support data accuracy, reporting needs, and risk reduction efforts.
Travel Requirements
- 10% May need to travel to various organizational locations for meetings, data validation, process reviews, claims support, and risk or safety-related activities.
