Job description

ColonialWebb is hiring an in person Mechanical Piping Designer that will be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical piping hydronic and refrigerant systems. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical piping principles and the ability to apply this knowledge to complex commercial piping systems. 

** This is an in-person position that will report to our corporate location in Richmond, VA.

A day in the life:

  • Coordinate and work efficiently and in accordance with plans and specifications, and ColonialWebb fabrication standards; advise the respective Project Manager as conflicts occur
  • Document and provide marked-up submittals to Project Manager showing any modifications, or discrepancies related to inline duct and piping devices.
  • Monitor and report to the respective Project Manager when coordination and detailing require work not indicated on the contract drawings.
  • Attend job meetings as requested by the Project Manager
  • Generate full coordination drawings and provide all necessary paperwork to complete the task.
  • Provide clear, dimensional, and accurate drawings.
  • Visit job sites as necessary to complete work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 You should have:

  • Ability to read and understand contract drawings, specs, and submittals.
  • Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with internal and external customers
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, but remain calm when handling emergencies
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand. Unscheduled overtime may be required, as necessary
  • Possess field experience as a construction sheet metal mechanic or sheet metal foreman.
