Job description

Job Summary:
AA2IT is seeking a Data Center Technician to provide on-site support for the maintenance of Client Information Technology services within a Data Center environment. The role involves troubleshooting, hardware installations, and ensuring compliance with IT service standards.
Responsibilities:
• Perform hardware installations (rack / stack) and cable installations (routing, terminating, structured cabling), including troubleshooting and testing. Also, perform hardware decommissions and cable removal. Work with Client on IT asset redundant power requirements with appropriate facilities staff to ensure proper load balance and fail-over capacity to avoid cascading failures.
• Prepare and coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments. Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure accurate make, model, and quantities are received and processed.
• Perform remote hands support (e.g. power cycles, physical environment, and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, hardware upgrades, testing of copper and fiber cables, handling storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands).
• Escort 3rd parties requiring Data Center access for approved activities and ensure their compliance with Client SLA standards.
• Carry out daily housekeeping checks of the White Space locations, and record findings.
• Support Service Management and related processes (e.g., Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, approving, and closing associated assigned tickets within Client and DCS systems.
• Ensure that Risk Assessments are always prepared and used for all tasks undertaken -- completing safe working practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5 years minimum in the IT world or in a Data Center
• H.S. Diploma with applicable experience
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Brady Work Station
• Good communication
• Good customer service skills
• Good work ethic
• Good organization
• Attention to detail
• Ability to follow up
Preferred:
• CCNA
• CCNP
• Familiarization with multiple network platforms and equipment
• associate's degree
• Accredited training in the installation of copper and fiber structured cabling systems
• Previous experience of using Remedy, DCIM tools
