Job description

EnerMech is seeking a seasoned Business ManagerCommercial Director to oversee commercial controls and strategies on major projects across the Americas. Based in Houston, this role focuses on safeguarding and improving project profitability through strong commercial, contracts, and risk management practices. The ideal candidate combines expertise in EPC contracts, claims management, and industry-standard commercial models with the ability to work under high-volume, fast-paced conditions.
Job Description:
  • Manage all commercial and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide project costing, margin, and cashflow reports.
  • Manage change order procedures, agree costs with clients, and finalize accounts.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal and Project Execution teams.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and purchase agreements.
  • Lead claims management, including schedule delays, disruptions, and valuation of variations.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements and industry-standard commercial models.
  • Implement commercial risk management strategies and actions.
  • Conduct cost and risk analyses to safeguard project profitability.
  • Interface with client commercial/contract teams to drive positive outcomes.
  • Support supplier engagement, selection, and management.
  • Travel: 30-40% to project sites in the Americas (extended stays possible)

Requirements:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of commercial/project management experience in energy, industrial, infrastructure, or defense sectors.
  • Strong contracts knowledge, including EPC contracts.
  • Proven experience in claims management, cost analysis, and risk mitigation.
  • Track record managing high-volume projects and teams under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written communication, negotiation, and commercial acumen.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching commercial teams.
  • Exposure to multi-year, multi-service framework agreements.
