We need a courier/driver for the NIH medical campus. This route is Monday through Thursday only during the afternoon hours. Pickup is at 3:00 PM, with delivery by 4:30 PM. NIH pick-up address is: NIH Blood Bank 9000 Rockville Pike, Bldg. 10, Bethesda, MD 20892. Delivery address is: FDA Life Sciences Biodefense Complex, 10903 New Hampshire Ave., Bldg. 52 Loading Dock, Silver Spring, MD 20993.
This is a medical courier route. The FDA Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research requires a courier service to pick up, secure, transport, and deliver pre-packaged biological materials that may contain potentially infectious materials, such as blood products, patient specimens, DNA samples, and synthesized peptide products, between the NIH Bethesda Campus and the FDA Silver Spring Campus. These materials are critical to projects supporting the FDA's mission of protecting and advancing public health.
The Courier shall have a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. The Courier shall have a vehicle capable of transporting required samples. Coolers will be provided by the company, Dantli Corp. Specimens must be kept at the required temperature: Room temperature samples should remain in a range of 18-25'C and refrigerated samples should remain within 2-6'C. The specimens shall remain sealed and the Courier shall comply with the OSHA and HIPPA guidelines for all items in their possession from the point of origin to the final destination.
Courier shall be neat in appearance and easily recognized. Company attire is permissible. Closed-toe shoes must be worn; no eating, drinking, smoking, vaping, applying make-up, etc. is prohibited in the vehicle during transportation of medical samples. The vehicle shall carry only the reported individual assigned by the contractor or possible trainees and no other passengers.
Integrity of the package through final delivery, including temperature requirements by:
a) avoid exposing packages to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
b) all pre-packaged biological materials shall be sealed in secondary containments
c) use leak-proof, insulated, and hard-sided containers as transport carriers
d) drive directly to the delivery location
e) use a dedicated room temperature transport carrier for the room temperature packages
f) use a transport carrier with wet ice or cold packs for the refrigerated packages
g) pick up and deliver the specimens within the timeframe identified in the provided schedule
h) provide a point of contact responsible for successful performance of the work
i) responsible for record reporting by Courier to the Contractor via email or text message during pick-up and delivery to ensure effective communication to the Client
