Protara Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company committed to advancing transformative therapies for people with cancer and rare diseases. Protara's portfolio includes its lead candidate, TARA-002, an investigational cell-based therapy in development for the treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) and lymphatic malformations (LMs). The Company is evaluating TARA-002 in an ongoing Phase 2 trial in NMIBC patients with carcinoma in situ (CIS) who are unresponsive or naive to treatment with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), as well as a Phase 2 trial in pediatric patients with LMs. Additionally, Protara is developing IV Choline Chloride, an investigational phospholipid substrate replacement for patients on parenteral support who are otherwise unable to meet their choline needs via oral or enteral routes.

Job Overview: 

Protara is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to support the Legal & Compliance function focused on developing innovative therapies for patients with NMIBC (non-muscle invasive bladder cancer) and rare diseases. This role will provide broad legal and administrative support across contracting, commercial, clinical, regulatory, intellectual property, corporate governance, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment and have experience supporting legal operations within the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries.

*This person must be able to come into the NYC office twice a week. 

 *Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with the preparation, review, tracking, and administration of a wide variety of agreements, including:
    • Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
    • Clinical trial agreements
    • Vendor and consulting agreements
    • Master service agreements (MSAs)
    • Research collaboration agreements
    • Licensing and manufacturing agreements
    • Sponsorship and grant agreements
  • Manage contract lifecycle processes, including intake, execution, filing, renewals, and reporting
  • Maintain contract management systems and legal databases to ensure accurate records and accessibility
  • Coordinate contract signatures through Docusign

 Corporate Governance

  • Assist with corporate entity management, including maintaining corporate records, minute books, resolutions, and governance documentation
  • Prepare materials for board meetings and committee meetings as requested
  • Support annual filings and corporate compliance requirements

 Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Finance, Research & Development, Commercial and Human Resources teams
  • Serve as a trusted resource for business stakeholders seeking guidance on legal processes and documentation

Education

  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred

Experience

  • 3-7 years of paralegal experience, preferably within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, medical devices, or a highly regulated industry
  • Experience supporting in-house legal departments strongly preferred
  • Experience with contract management systems and legal operations tools

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences companies
  • Knowledge of clinical research, drug development, and healthcare compliance concepts preferred
  • Strong contract administration and document management skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal technology platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting companies focused on oncology, rare diseases, biologics, or specialty therapeutics
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, GxP environments, Sunshine Act reporting, and international compliance requirements
  • Experience working with intellectual property portfolios and external patent counsel
  • Experience supporting publicly traded biotechnology companies is a plus
