Point Of Sale Backend Developer

Location: Bethesda, MD

Position Overview

We are seeking a strong Backend Developer to design, build, and scale high-performance data integration pipelines and serverless backend services within a modern Azure-based architecture. This role will focus on developing reliable, high-throughput REST APIs, automating ETL/ELT workflows, and optimizing complex relational database layers to support seamless data movement across enterprise systems.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience with C#/.NET, Azure Functions, advanced SQL, RESTful web services, and enterprise data integration. This is a highly impactful role supporting backend systems that power digital ordering, POS platforms, analytics, and real-time operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using C#/.NET.
• Develop and support serverless applications using Azure Functions, including HTTP and Timer bindings.
• Build high-throughput RESTful APIs to support enterprise system integrations.
• Create, automate, and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines across multiple business-critical platforms.
• Write, tune, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, and relational database performance issues.
• Support data movement across POS, digital ordering, analytics, and enterprise application environments.
• Implement scalable backend solutions with a focus on concurrency, caching, data serialization, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand integration needs and deliver reliable backend solutions.
• Support CI/CD deployment processes using tools such as Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
• Monitor application health and performance using Azure monitoring tools, including Application Insights.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional backend development experience with C#/.NET.
• Hands-on experience building decoupled, maintainable enterprise backend services.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, specifically serverless architecture and Azure Functions.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex query writing, stored procedure development/debugging, and index tuning.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful web services.
• Proven experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating disparate enterprise systems.
• Strong understanding of performance optimization, concurrency, caching strategies, and data serialization.
• Experience working in CI/CD environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Point of Sale (POS) systems or POS analytics platforms.
• Experience in hospitality technology, retail, restaurant, airport, or other high-volume transaction-based environments.
• Familiarity with Azure Application Insights, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience supporting real-time digital ordering, transaction processing, or enterprise reporting platforms.

What You'll Work On

This role supports a major backend modernization initiative focused on scaling and improving enterprise data infrastructure. As digital ordering, POS systems, and analytics platforms continue to expand, this position will help build the APIs, data pipelines, and serverless services needed to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable data flow across the organization.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
