This position requires someone who can work directly with Windows servers, virtual machines, cloud infrastructure, security findings, backups, system policies, and automation.

The engineer will help maintain a secure and recoverable infrastructure while assisting with server migrations, patching, hardening, performance monitoring, and complex technical escalations. The selected consultant will work closely with IT operations, cybersecurity, networking, application, and support teams. This is a hands-on engineering position that requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to take ownership of infrastructure issues through resolution.

Primary Responsibilities Administer and troubleshoot enterprise Windows Server environments, including server operating systems, infrastructure services, and application dependencies. Support VMware hosts, clusters, virtual machines, snapshots, resource allocation, and routine platform maintenance. Deploy and maintain Azure infrastructure resources, including virtual machines, storage, access controls, and supporting network components.

Assist with moving server workloads into Azure, including migration preparation, implementation, testing, and post-migration validation. Review server vulnerability findings, confirm affected systems, establish remediation plans, and document corrective actions. Apply secure server configurations, hardening standards, patching requirements, and security baselines.

Coordinate operating system patches, infrastructure maintenance, and server lifecycle activities. Administer backup and recovery processes for physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted workloads. Conduct restore tests and support disaster recovery planning, validation, and recovery exercises.

Develop PowerShell scripts that automate administrative tasks, improve reporting, correct configuration issues, and reduce repetitive manual work. Create and maintain server-related Group Policy configurations and other infrastructure standards. Monitor server availability, performance, capacity, patch compliance, and backup status.

Respond to infrastructure alerts, service interruptions, performance problems, and configuration failures. Provide Tier 3 assistance for complex server, access, infrastructure, and related endpoint incidents. Perform root-cause analysis and provide technical guidance to Service Desk and support personnel.

Participate in formal change-management processes, including planning, testing, risk evaluation, implementation, validation, and communication. Maintain server diagrams, configuration records, operating procedures, recovery instructions, and troubleshooting documentation. Coordinate with cybersecurity, networking, cloud, application, and support teams to maintain dependable infrastructure services.

Required Experience Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Windows Server in a corporate or enterprise environment. Experience maintaining VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, clusters, snapshots, and virtual machines. Experience deploying or supporting Microsoft Azure IaaS resources.

Participation in server migrations to Azure or another cloud-hosted infrastructure environment. Experience investigating and remediating server vulnerabilities. Knowledge of Windows Server hardening, secure configuration standards, patching, and configuration controls.

Experience with enterprise backup platforms, server restores, recovery validation, and disaster recovery procedures. Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation, reporting, remediation, and infrastructure administration. Experience creating or maintaining Group Policy and server configuration standards.

Ability to analyze server logs, monitoring alerts, performance information, and diagnostic data. Experience providing Tier 3 escalation support and resolving complex infrastructure incidents. Strong technical documentation, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple assignments while following established security and change-control procedures. Preferred Experience Working knowledge of routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and general network troubleshooting. Administration of Linux servers in an enterprise environment.

Experience with Microsoft Certificate Services, internal PKI, certificate renewals, trust chains, and certificate-related troubleshooting. Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring, performance analysis, and capacity-planning tools. Experience participating in disaster recovery exercises, business continuity testing, or recovery orchestration.

Experience working in banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare, or another regulated industry. Microsoft, Azure, VMware, Linux, cybersecurity, or ITIL certifications.
