Greenland Central School is seeking an Athletic Director for 2026 - 2027. This is a stipend position for $6,000.
This position will provide overall leadership and coordination among the various sports and to facilitate a comprehensive athletic program to serve the interests and needs of the students.
Responsibilities:
Planning and Preparation
Interview and lead selection process and assignment of elementary and middle school athletic coaches.
Provide an annual evaluation of each athletic coach.
Hire officials and game management personnel as required.
Arrange transportation for athletic away games.
Review annually all equipment, supplies, and uniforms to ensure each team has what it needs for the season.
Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Provide proper supervision of home games.
Develop and implement appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletes and athletic activities.
Work with coaches, principal, athletes, and families on discipline issues.
Arrange field and gym practice schedules and supervise custodial preparation of those areas for practices and games.
Coordinate a maintenance program for facilities and fields through collaboration with the Head Custodian, Principal, and Facilities Director.
Ensure emergency kits are stocked and ready before each sport season and are available for each team.
Communicate the athletic program's vision, goals, long-range plans, needs, and accomplishments to coaches, students, staff, families, and the community.
Provide orientation and the Athletic Coach Handbook to all athletic coaches.
Provide orientation and Student Athlete Handbook to students and families.
Avoid criticism of students, parents, and colleagues.
Prepare and administer the athletic budget to ensure sufficient funding for supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
Organize and supervise the management of athletic equipment, materials, and supplies and record inventory after each sport season.
Collect and organize student athlete required paperwork; physicals, handbook signatures, etc.
Assist the Human Resource Department with the collection of athletic coaches' contracts and other required documentation.
Attend district, regional, and state athletic meetings as required.
Meet with the principal for program review and planning.
Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
