How to become a contract data analyst?

To become a contract data analyst, you typically need a bachelor's degree in fields like data analysis, statistics, or related areas. Developing skills in data management tools such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization software, along with strong analytical and communication skills, is essential. Gaining experience through internships or freelance projects can also improve job prospects in contract roles.

Do contract jobs pay well?

Contract analytics roles often offer competitive pay rates that can be higher than permanent positions due to the temporary nature and specialized skills required. Compensation varies based on experience, industry, and project scope, with some roles paying premium rates for expertise in data analysis, tools like Excel or SQL, and industry certifications. However, benefits such as job security and long-term stability may be limited compared to full-time positions.

What is contract analytics?

Contract analytics refers to the use of technology and data analysis to review, interpret, and manage contracts more efficiently. It involves extracting key information, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance by leveraging software tools, often powered by artificial intelligence. This process helps organizations gain insights from large volumes of contracts, streamline contract management, and make more informed business decisions.

Will AI replace a data analyst?

AI tools can automate routine data processing and analysis tasks, but the role of a data analyst involves interpreting insights, understanding business context, and communicating findings, which currently require human judgment. Contract analysts and data analysts will likely see AI as a complement that enhances productivity rather than a complete replacement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Contract Analytics, and why are they important?

Success in Contract Analytics requires a solid understanding of contract law, analytical skills, and experience with data analysis or legal research, often supported by a degree in law, business, or a related field. Familiarity with contract management systems, data analytics tools (like Excel, SQL, or specialized contract analytics software), and sometimes certifications in contract management are typical. Attention to detail, strong communication, and problem-solving abilities are valuable soft skills in this field. These competencies are crucial for accurately interpreting contracts, identifying risks, and optimizing contract processes to support business objectives.

What are some of the main challenges faced by professionals in contract analytics, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in contract analytics often encounter challenges such as interpreting complex legal language, managing large volumes of contracts, and ensuring consistency across documents. Staying organized and leveraging contract management software can help streamline document review and extraction of key data points. Additionally, collaborating closely with legal, procurement, and compliance teams ensures a thorough understanding of contract terms and helps mitigate risks associated with misinterpretation or missed obligations.

What does a contract analyst do?

A contract analyst reviews, interprets, and manages contracts to ensure compliance with legal and company standards. They analyze contract terms, negotiate amendments, and use contract management software to track obligations and deadlines, supporting risk management and business operations.

Job description

ABOUT LVT

LVT is redefining how businesses operate in the physical world, moving beyond traditional security solutions to deliver AI-driven, actionable intelligence that makes sites smarter, safer, and more secure. Since pioneering our first mobile, solar-powered units, our commitment to scrappy, hands-on innovation has made us an established leader and one of the fastest-growing companies in intelligent site technology. We are building the next generation of solutions—from our physical units in the field to a powerful Agentic AI platform—that allows our customers to gain unprecedented visibility and control over safety, compliance, and operations. This is your chance to join a cutting-edge team that isn't just watching the world change, but actively building the technology that is changing it.

We're a team that's focused on growth and innovation, and we're proud that our crew, products, and leadership are being recognized for it.

  • A Top-Tier Growth Company: Named one of the Financial Times' Fastest Growing Companies 2025 and #10 on the Inc. 5000 Rocky Mountain Regional list for 2025.
  • Innovative Leadership: Our CEO, Ryan Porter, was named an EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2025, and our CTO, Steve Lindsey, was inducted into the Silicon Slopes CTO Hall of Fame in 2024.
  • Product & Software Excellence: We were named one of The Software Report's Top 100 Software Companies of 2023 and are a winner of the Security Today Govies Award for 2025.
ABOUT THIS ROLE

As Corporate Counsel at LVT, you will take ownership of our day-to-day commercial contracting practice, serving as the primary legal partner across our accelerating book of business. Reporting directly to the Assistant General Counsel, you will manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, balancing robust risk mitigation with pragmatic solutions that drive revenue. You will work closely with our Contract Analyst to optimize workflows, leverage emerging AI legal tools, and establish scalable frameworks. This high-autonomy role requires a sharp business mindset, legal curiosity, congeniality, and the capability to protect LVT while accelerating our commercial momentum.

This role is based fully in-office out of our Headquarters in American Fork, Utah.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • End-to-End Contract Management: Manage the drafting, review, and strategic negotiation of commercial contracts, including complex SaaS agreements, hardware deployments, professional services, vendor procurement, reseller structures, and NDAs.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the primary, trusted legal point of contact for sales, procurement, operations, and leadership teams to ensure seamless deal execution and operational alignment.
  • Process Optimization: Partner closely with the Contract Analyst to build, scale, and coordinate efficient contract management workflows that preserve rigorous legal and ethical standards.
  • Legal Tech Innovation: Serve as an integral member of the team evaluating, selecting, and implementing a Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system to modernize legal operations.
  • Scalable Architecture: Develop, maintain, and continually optimize standard contract templates, master playbooks, and fallback positions.
  • Strategic Escalations: Collaborate closely with the Assistant General Counsel on complex, high-stakes, or non-standard matters, contributing sophisticated legal analysis and actionable risk assessments.
  • Impact Metrics: Measure success through deal velocity, effective risk mitigation, and the scalability of legal support across LVT's growth.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Credentialed Expertise: Holds a J.D. from an accredited law school and maintains an active bar admission in good standing.
  • Proven Track Record: Brings at least 4 years of dedicated legal experience with a sharp focus on high-volume, sophisticated commercial contract review, drafting, and negotiation.
  • Domain Tech Competency: Demonstrates expertise with technology-driven agreements, specifically SaaS, hardware-as-a-service, channel partner architectures, and complex procurement frameworks.
  • Forward-Thinking Mentality: Possesses experience with, and a strong operational interest in, leveraging AI-powered legal tools to optimize contract review and streamline legal workflows.
  • Regulatory & IP Literacy: Displays strong familiarity with global data privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and intellectual property considerations as they uniquely intersect with technology and SaaS platforms.
  • Business-First Mindset: Combines rigorous legal judgment with a practical, solutions-oriented perspective, delivering clear, actionable guidance that enables business growth rather than simply pointing out risks or roadblocks.
  • High Autonomy: Thrives in a dynamic, high-growth environment with the self-starting capability to manage a robust practice independently while maintaining exceptional collaboration skills.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Brings a collaborative, collegial working style, generously sharing expertise and finding enjoyment in working alongside capable teammates to solve problems and achieve goals.

BENEFITS

We believe you do your best work when your whole life is supported. We invest in our crew's health, families, and financial futures with a benefits package designed to support you inside and outside the office. Full-time benefits include, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits (401k match up to 4%), and flexible PTO.
