Job description

Amazon Air's Tech Ops Sourcing team sources and negotiates all commercial agreements for airframe and engine maintenance, spare asset acquisition, and material supply to support the fleet. This role will own sourcing execution across one or more workstreams - negotiating directly with MROs, OEMs, and aftermarket suppliers to secure maintenance capacity, manage costs, and support fleet operation. You will bring aviation technical knowledge and commercial sourcing expertise, developing sourcing strategies and driving complex negotiations from initiation through execution. Operating with minimal direction, you will ensure Amazon Air secures sufficient maintenance capacity and favorable commercial terms while building a resilient, high-quality supply base to support the operation.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes for aircraft and engine maintenance services, including developing detailed RFPs, conducting bid evaluations, and driving supplier selection decisions
- Negotiate and execute complex agreements with MROs, OEMs, and aftermarket vendors, owning commercial outcomes end-to-end
- Develop should-cost models and TCO analyses to support negotiation positions and commercial recommendations
- Implement commercial strategies to ensure reliable and cost-effective heavy maintenance support
- Lead acquisition of spare engines, APUs, and landing gears including lease structuring and purchase negotiations, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership for approval
- Manage commercial relationships with global maintenance providers, tracking contract performance metrics
- Collaborate across Tech Ops, Fleet, Finance, and Legal teams to align sourcing strategies with operational requirements
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders and present commercial recommendations to senior leadership
- Identify and drive process improvements across the sourcing lifecycle, including template standardization and supplier performance frameworks
A day in the life
Your day will be a dynamic blend of strategic sourcing and contract negotiations. You'll engage with global MROs and aftermarket vendors, analyze complex market trends, and develop sourcing approaches that balance operational excellence with financial prudence. You'll own your workstreams end-to-end - from market research and RFP development through contract execution and ongoing supplier management. Expect to balance multiple active negotiations simultaneously while responding to urgent fleet needs as they arise.
About the team
The Tech Ops Sourcing team sits within Amazon Air's Fleet, Aviation Sourcing, and Technical (FAST) organization. We're a collaborative team of innovative thinkers committed to building a global transportation infrastructure that enables smarter, faster, and more reliable delivery services. Your work will directly contribute to Amazon's mission of transforming logistics and customer experiences.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field
- 5+ years of supply chain, forecasting, manufacturing, sourcing/procurement, or vendor management experience
- 5+ years of work in a procurement organization, performing vendor management, contract management, negotiating complex purchases, and bidding experience
- 5+ years of airline, MRO, or OEM experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree, or MBA in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field
- Experience leading RFPs and negotiating complex contracts for maintenance services and/or material supply
- Direct experience leasing and/or purchasing spare engines, APUs, or landing gears
- Familiarity with airframe and engine maintenance cost structures
- Experience with financial analysis, modeling, and TCO development
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders
