Job description

Eaton's ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Intern.
The hourly rate for this position is $22.15 - $34.62 per hour.

What you'll do:
Position Overview
Join a high-performing team dedicated to advancing Eaton's Continuous Improvement and Industry 4.0 strategy. In this hands-on role, you'll collaborate with CI leaders and cross-functional teams to optimize processes, implement smart manufacturing solutions, and drive measurable improvements in productivity and quality.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with CI leaders to identify, scope, and execute improvement projects aligned with the Eaton Business System (EBS).
• Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Actively participate in Kaizen events and CI workshops to eliminate waste and enhance efficiency.
• Develop and update standard work documentation and visual management tools.
• Deploy Lean methodologies such as 5S, value stream mapping, and TPM to drive sustainable improvements.
• Support Industry 4.0 initiatives, including IoT integration, predictive maintenance, and digital dashboard development.
• Assist in implementing Eaton-approved smart manufacturing technologies for real-time performance monitoring.
• Prepare and deliver clear, data-driven reports and presentations to communicate project progress and outcomes to leadership.
Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
• Actively enrolled in an accredited engineering program (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field).
• Minimum 2.75 GPA.
• Entering junior year or higher.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Reside within 50 miles of the Troy, IL Plant (no relocation provided).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience or coursework in Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts (IoT, smart sensors, data analytics, automation).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
