Job description

GREENVILLE, SC

9/8 Central is looking for a Junior Video Editor who loves the craft of short-form social video and wants to keep pushing it forward.

You'll work across a mix of projects, from brand films to podcast content, but social is where you'll spend most of your time. You stay current on what's working on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. You watch things with intention. You think about why content holds attention, what makes a viewer stop scrolling, and how editing choices drive that. Then you bring that thinking into your work, not just your scroll.

You're early in your career but serious about the craft. You're coachable, organized, and excited to produce work that performs, not just work that looks good. You want to be around experienced editors, learn from them, and grow into more independent work over time.

If editing social content feels like the most interesting problem in the room, this role was built for you.

First, a little about you:

You're the kind of person who notices the details others miss. You care about pacing, storytelling, clean edits, and making every frame feel intentional. Whether you're organizing footage, tightening a sequence, or fine-tuning audio, you take pride in turning raw media into something polished.

You're genuinely curious about social. You follow what's working, experiment with format and pacing, and stay current on platform-specific trends because you actually find it interesting, not because someone asked you to. You know that editing for social is its own discipline, and you want to get good at it.

You're eager to learn and excited to grow. You enjoy collaborating with experienced editors, asking thoughtful questions, and applying feedback to become better with every project. You're organized enough to manage multiple edits at once, adaptable when priorities shift, and motivated by seeing a creative vision come to life.

Most importantly, you love the craft of editing. You're willing to put in the work, sharpen your skills, and become a dependable teammate others can count on.

If you find yourself nodding along, we want to hear from you.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Edit short-form social video for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube with platform-specific intent
  • Stay current on short-form content trends, emerging editing techniques, and platform algorithm changes, and bring that awareness into your work
  • Edit a variety of video formats under the guidance of our senior editors, from social clips to brand films
  • Ingest, back up, and organize footage and digital assets
  • Work with a mix of media including video, audio, photos, and graphics to assemble polished final pieces
  • Create captions for social media videos so content works across every platform
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand the creative vision behind each project
  • Manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines without losing the details

REQUIREMENTS:

You love editing social content.

Short-form is your medium. You understand that editing for social is different from editing for broadcast or long-form. You know how pacing, hooks, and audio choices affect retention. You stay current on what's working across platforms and bring that knowledge into every edit.

Organization is your superpower.

You thrive in an organized workflow. From footage and project files to exports and archives, you keep everything in its place and can confidently manage multiple projects without losing the details.

Editing fundamentals matter.

You have a solid understanding of pacing, continuity, storytelling, and audio. You're comfortable in Adobe Premiere Pro and are eager to keep sharpening your technical and creative skills.

You love to learn.

You're coachable, curious, and excited to grow. You welcome feedback, apply it to your work, and see every project as an opportunity to become a stronger editor. That same curiosity extends to the platforms you're editing for.

Strong communication skills.

Clear, professional communication is a must. You ask thoughtful questions, collaborate well with producers and editors, and keep teammates informed throughout the editing process.

Details make the difference.

You notice the little things others might miss. Whether it's a jump cut, audio pop, typo in captions, or inconsistent graphics, you're committed to delivering polished work.

You work well under pressure.

Deadlines don't intimidate you. You can balance multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain quality when timelines get tight.

A collaborative mindset.

You're a dependable teammate who enjoys contributing to a shared creative vision. You value feedback, support your coworkers, and celebrate great work together.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro (required)
  • A solid grasp of editing fundamentals: pacing, continuity, storytelling, and audio
  • Active familiarity with short-form content on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. You watch it, you think about it, you follow what's working
  • Strong organizational habits and a sharp eye for detail
  • Clear communication and a willingness to collaborate
  • Openness to feedback and genuine interest in learning from experienced editors
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and overlapping deadlines
  • After Effects, Photoshop, motion graphics, animation, color correction, or agency/production experience is a plus

OUR CORE VALUES:

We live and hire by our core values. Here's what that looks like for this role.

Show Up

You're reliable, prepared, and invested in doing great work. Your teammates know they can count on you to support the editing process and keep projects moving.

  • You come to edit sessions, reviews, and team meetings with your projects organized and ready to discuss
  • You follow through on assignments, deadlines, and revisions without needing constant reminders
  • You keep footage, project files, and assets organized so others can easily jump in when needed
  • You communicate proactively about your progress, questions, or roadblocks before they become problems
  • You stay focused and dependable during busy production schedules, maintaining attention to detail even when juggling multiple projects

Say the Thing

You communicate clearly, ask questions, and aren't afraid to seek clarification or share concerns.

  • You ask questions when creative direction, feedback, or priorities aren't clear
  • You communicate your progress and let teammates know early if a deadline or revision may be at risk
  • You speak up when you notice missing footage, technical issues, or inconsistencies that could affect the final edit
  • You receive feedback with professionalism and use it to improve your work
  • You keep producers and editors informed so expectations stay aligned throughout a project

Be the Expert

You're committed to mastering your craft, including what's working in social content right now.

  • You continuously build your editing skills and deepen your knowledge of Premiere Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • You follow short-form content trends across platforms and bring that awareness into how you approach pacing, cuts, and format
  • You maintain organized timelines, project files, and media so projects stay efficient and easy to manage
  • You understand and follow our editing standards, naming conventions, backup procedures, and delivery processes
  • You pay close attention to pacing, continuity, audio, graphics, and visual details that improve the quality of each edit
  • You take pride in delivering polished work that reflects our team's standards

Find a Way

Creative work doesn't always go according to plan. When challenges come up, you stay adaptable, resourceful, and focused on solutions.

  • You adapt when priorities shift, revisions change, or new creative direction is introduced
  • You troubleshoot technical issues, missing assets, or workflow challenges before they slow down a project
  • You stay organized while balancing multiple edits with competing deadlines
  • You look for creative solutions that strengthen the story, even when working with limited footage or resources
  • You remain calm under pressure and maintain a positive attitude that helps the team keep moving
