Job description

Delta is seeking a Space Strategy and Policy SME to support the U.S. Space Force (USSF) Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Strategy, Plans, Programs, and Requirements (SF/S5/8) in delivering integrated Service space strategies, policies, and requirements to provide organized, trained, and equipped space forces for employment by Joint Force Commanders.

This position will directly support the Strategy and Policy Directorate, SF/S5S, responsible for the development, synchronization, and publication of Service institutional visions, strategies, policies, and campaign plans; leads USSF participation in development of Strategic Direction and select Comprehensive Joint Readiness processes; and supports select Strategic and Contingency Planning and Global Military Integration processes.

This position will perform duties at the customer site in Arlington, VA.

What you will be doing:

Formulate, coordinate, and implement Service-level space-related policies and programs that support national security objectives and policies established by the President, the Secretary of War, and SecAF

Coordinate Service input to the Unified Command Plan, the National Security Strategy, the Contingency Planning Guidance, the National Defense Strategy, the Defense Planning Guidance, and the National Military Strategy as well as to the development of U.S. Government, DoW, DAF, Combatant Command, Joint Staff, Sister Service, Intelligence Community, civil, commercial, and ally/partner space strategies

Coordinate Service input to the Joint Military Net Assessment, the Annual Joint Assessment, and the Chairman's Risk Assessment

Support Service input to the Joint Strategic Campaign Plan and review of campaign and contingency plans (i.e., Global Campaign Plans, Regional Campaign Plans, Functional Campaign Plans, Combatant Command Campaign Plans, Globally Integrated Frameworks, Operation Plans, and Integrated Contingency Plans)

Support Service participation in the Consolidated Strategic Opportunities Development process

Support Service participation in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Operations Deputies Tank series, as required

Advise senior leadership in planning, developing, and coordinating classified activities in support of USSF's global mission

Support deliberate planning process, development of operational strategy and doctrine

Assist in developing policy, guidance, and orders to USSF Field Commands

Identify and analyze concepts and technologies for investment

Generate recommendations for new programs, policies, doctrine, strategies, studies, and approaches

Manages accounts on NIPRNet & SIPRNet and Enterprise Task Management Software, to ensure action items are appropriately tasked, tracked, and closed in a timely manner

Demonstrated understanding of Space enterprise to include DoW requirements, acquisition, and budgeting processes and applicable Defense Space guidance and policy

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, lead, and execute studies or projects and outbrief results to senior leadership

What you will need:

TS Clearance with SCI eligibility

Experience writing policy/strategy documents

Experience supporting Service HQ or DoW Agency or IC staffs

Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, oral presentation and executive writing skills

Familiarity with civil, commercial, and international space policies

Familiarity with the DoW space strategy

Master's Degree mandatory, plus 15 yrs. (20 yrs. preferred) of experience in an Operations, Engineering, Scientific, Analysis, Policy or Planning field related to Space Defense

Experience and understanding of space strategy, development and/or operations of one or more DoW operational system

Preferred Skills:

Pentagon knowledge and understanding of Pentagon organizations

Knowledge and familiarity with current DoW efforts in space

Staff experience supporting DoW agencies within the past 3 years

Familiarity with ETMS and/or or other HQ staffing tools

Preferred Education/Experience:

Master's degree in Space Policy

20+ years' experience in an Ops, engineering, scientific, analysis, policy or planning field related to Defense Space

HQ SF/AF/SAF staff experience within the past 3 years

Experience with integration of Space and Intelligence

Experience and understanding of design, development and/or operations of one or more DoW Space system
