Position Overview

Fortress Leak Detection & Restoration is seeking dependable, detail-oriented Contents Technicians to join our growing Contents Division.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team in the Metro Atlanta area, offering starting pay between $18 and $25 per hour depending on experience. This position requires reliable personal transportation for local travel and provides strong opportunities for career advancement, internal growth, and higher pay as you develop within the company. Comprehensive employee benefits are available after six months of employment.

Contents Technicians work directly inside residential and commercial properties affected by fire, smoke, water, mold, and other property losses. This position is responsible for carefully documenting, inventorying, packing, protecting, transporting, cleaning, storing, and returning customers' personal property.

This is a hands-on field position requiring organization, professionalism, attention to detail, teamwork, and respect for customers and their belongings.

Primary Responsibilities

The Contents Technician will:

• Assist with residential and commercial contents pack-outs and pack-backs.
• Photograph rooms and contents before items are moved.
• Document the condition and location of contents.
• Inventory personal property room by room.
• Accurately identify and label boxes, furniture, and individual items.
• Wrap and pack household and commercial contents using proper packing techniques.
• Protect fragile, high-value, and specialty contents.
• Maintain separation of contents by room, condition, and processing status.
• Assist with identification and documentation of salvageable and non-salvageable property.
• Photograph damaged and non-salvageable items as required.
• Assist with loading and unloading contents from company vehicles.
• Maintain proper chain-of-custody procedures while contents are being transferred or stored.
• Assist with contents cleaning, deodorization, processing, and restoration when assigned.
• Assist with warehouse receiving, organization, storage, and inventory control.
• Participate in pack-back operations when contents are returned to the customer.
• Maintain clean and organized job sites, vehicles, equipment, and work areas.
• Follow Fortress safety procedures and required PPE protocols.
• Complete assigned forms, documentation, labels, photographs, and daily job records.
• Immediately report damaged, missing, high-value, sentimental, or questionable items to the Crew Lead or Contents Supervisor.
• Follow instructions from the Contents Lead, Project Manager, or Contents Division Manager.

Contents Documentation Standards

Accuracy is a critical component of this position.

Technicians are expected to help maintain a clear documentation trail identifying:

• Original room/location
• Item or box number
• Item description
• Condition
• Damage observed
• Photograph reference
• Salvageable/non-salvageable status
• Processing requirements
• Storage or destination location
• Chain-of-custody information

Nothing should be discarded without proper documentation and authorization.

Specialty & High-Value Contents

Technicians may encounter:

• Electronics
• Artwork
• Antiques
• Collectibles
• Documents
• Rugs
• Furniture
• Appliances
• Fragile items
• Sentimental property
• High-value personal property

These items must be identified and escalated to the Crew Lead or Supervisor when specialty handling is required.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

• Be dependable and arrive to work on time.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Be comfortable working inside properties affected by fire, smoke, water, and other types of property damage.
• Be capable of performing physical work including packing, carrying, loading, unloading, bending, standing, and working for extended periods.
• Be willing to wear required PPE.
• Have good organizational skills.
• Pay close attention to detail.
• Treat customers and their personal property with professionalism and respect.
• Be willing to learn Fortress documentation and contents-handling procedures.

Previous experience in contents restoration, moving, packing, cleaning, mitigation, restoration, warehousing, inventory, construction, or disaster recovery is helpful but not required for the right candidate.

Work Schedule

Work is primarily performed Monday through Saturday, with Sunday generally off except when emergency response is required.

Because property restoration is an emergency-service industry, schedules may occasionally change based on new losses, project requirements, or emergency assignments.

Team members may also be required to travel to job sites throughout the Greater Atlanta and Augusta service areas.
