About the Role

The OGC Assistant - Compliance is an integral part of Latham’s Office of the General Counsel team. This role will be responsible for supporting the firm’s regulatory compliance and risk management programs, including the firm’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program, while assisting with the Client Due Diligence (CDD) and Know Your Client (KYC) document collection and refreshing processes for one or more assigned firm offices, including conducting corporate research, working with lawyers and support team members to ensure timely collection of required documentation, and identifying risk-related issues for escalation. This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to questions from lawyers and support team members in assigned offices regarding KYC document requirements and status of KYC document collection
  • Participating in assigned projects that support the firm’s compliance programs and Compliance Team Strategic Plan
  • Assisting in the collection of data for discreet projects, requesting and gathering content for Compliance Team meetings
  • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for co-workers
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably
  • Prior experience in a law firm or other professional services firm, preferably
