Job description

As an integral part of the centralized Learfield Studios team, the Director, Content is an important role that uses in-depth creative and content knowledge built by years of experience to manage and lead 5-7 Supervising Producers on the ground at our schools. Working closely with the VP of Content, the Director, Content will lead these teams in developing creative and production workflows, as well as optimizing and growing our content offering.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage 5-7 Supervising Producers, advising on their content strategy, production workflow and creative output

  • Assist in content ideation and pre-production creative development as well as provide notes in post-production process across 5-7 schools

  • Provide consistent and clear feedback to Supervising Producers and content teams to ensure growth and development

  • Act as Learfield Studios centralized team's point of contact for Athletics, Property GMs and content teams at schools

  • Collaborate with other Learfield departments to develop new packages, solutions and best practices for teams on the ground

  • Partner with VP, Content to grow, develop and optimize content strategy, creative and production workflows across all schools and for long term growth of Learfield Studios

  • Pitch directly to internal and external partners and serve as point of contact

  • Ensure quality of content is always at the highest possible level within budget and schedule constraints

  • Advise on optimal content strategy and plan to increase fan engagement, hit key athletics priorities, and generate revenue locally & national

  • Provide and creatively manage notes process for all steps in the development, production and post-production process

  • Work collaboratively with necessary departments, internally and externally, to ensure all necessary deliverables are provided to ensure success

  • Become an expert on creative best practices for all platforms across short-form video, social, OTT and more.

  • Troubleshoot production and post-production issues as necessary

  • Work closely with internal and external production teams to ensure budgets and schedules are aligned with creative, talent and audience expectations

  • Work closely with strategy to optimize distribution and promotion of content

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of work experience in the sports or entertainment industry focused on writing, creative development and producing content

  • 2+ years of work experience leading and managing staff

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present concepts and strategies to executive leadership

  • Experience in managing teams, production workflows, and content strategy

  • Passion for and extensive experience in storytelling to drive engagement with consumers

  • Sports and/or entertainment experience a must

  • Ability to own projects and communicate with external partners as main point of contact

  • Experience working with digital, short-form video, social & influencer-driven content.

  • Strong project and people management skills

  • Direct experience with content creation pipelines

  • Ability to generate new ideas and concepts that might align with a project's initiatives

  • Creativity in deciding how an idea will be interpreted and representing in execution

  • Must contribute to and thrive in a high energy, high profile, positive, proactive, deadline driven, results oriented, and attention to detail environment.

  • Strong administrative, critical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Capacity to manage and prioritize many projects at one time in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

  • Must be highly organized, efficient and precise in his/her work.

The approximate national base pay range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000. Please note that this is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Individuals may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and/or sales compensation based on individual and company performance. Placement on the range may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and geographic location. The pay rate will comply with all minimum federal, state, and local wage/salary requirements.
