Job description

Your Opportunity as the Assistant Lead, Digital Content
This role will support the creation and optimization of digital experiences across retailer eCommerce platforms for the Pet portfolio. Partnering with eCommerce, Sales, Creative, agency partners, and external vendors, this role will develop and execute digital shelf content that improves product discoverability, drives conversion, and delivers a consistent brand experience. This role manages the end-to-end content process, from briefing and asset development through publication, auditing, and ongoing optimization. Using retailer insights, shopper behavior, and digital shelf analytics, this role will continuously enhance content performance and contribute to business growth. Working closely with the Digital Content Lead, you will execute digital shelf initiatives and optimization programs that strengthen Smucker's omnichannel presence, deepen consumer engagement, and support broader eCommerce and Brand Experience strategies.
Location: Orrville, OH Corporate Offices
Work Arrangements: Hybrid - onsite a minimum of 9 days a month primarily during core weeks as determined by the Company; maybe more as business need requires.
In this role you will:
Digital Shelf Content Development & Execution
  • Develop and execute digital shelf content for key retailer partners, including product detail pages (PDPs), enhanced content modules, brand stores, and other retailer-specific content.
  • Develop creative briefs and partner with internal creative teams and agencies to produce high-quality digital assets that align with brand and retailer requirements.
  • Manage content projects through briefing, review, legal approval, revision, and final production.
  • Coordinate content uploads and maintenance across retailer platforms and content management systems.
  • Execute content updates supporting product launches, seasonal campaigns, promotional programs, and retailer initiatives.
  • Support content updates and optimization for select brand.com sites, ensuring content remains current and aligned with Brand Experience strategies
  • Execute Ratings & Reviews programs that strengthen content credibility and improve shopper confidence.

Content Optimization & Insights
  • Analyze retailer scorecards, content performance metrics, and digital shelf analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Leverage internal tools such as Salsify, Profitero, Spotfire and more to monitor search visibility, content quality, and competitive performance.
  • Work with agency and internal ecommerce partners to conduct regular content audits to identify missing, outdated, or underperforming content and recommend optimization opportunities.
  • Support SEO and discoverability initiatives by ensuring content is optimized for retailer search algorithms and shopper engagement.
  • Share insights and recommendations with cross-functional partners to improve digital shelf performance and content effectiveness

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales teams to understand retailer-specific content requirements and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with eCommerce, Brand Marketing, Creative, and agency partners to align content development with broader business objectives.
  • Coordinate with content operations and vendor partners to ensure accurate and timely content publication.

Content Operations & Governance
  • Maintain digital shelf project trackers and manage workflows across multiple brands and retailers.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance of product content across platforms.
  • Support process improvements that enhance content quality, efficiency, and speed to market

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience managing content or digital projects
  • Strong creative acumen with proven success in developing and executing real-time performance content
  • Able to translate creative feedback into clear, actionable steps for production partners
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills; able to influence and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management capabilities to drive complex initiatives forward
