Job description

Digital Content Producer (full-time)
KTLA, the #1 station in the nation's #2 market, is looking for an experienced digital journalist to produce content for KTLA.com.
The Digital Content Producer is responsible for writing, reporting and posting news stories on KTLA.com and across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, X and Instagram. They must have excellent newswriting skills and news judgment, including the ability to curate and research stories independently.
The digital producer must have a comprehensive knowledge of reporting, sourcing, transparency and journalism ethics, with a commitment to integrity and accuracy.
Crucially, the producer must be able to quickly write accurate, concise and clear stories that put the most interesting, important details up top and are easily readable for our audience. Producers must be their own copy editors, producing stories and social posts that employ AP Style and are free of typos, grammatical errors and spelling/punctuation mistakes.
They will also be detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle stories and duties while working closely with the rest of the digital team. The ability to multitask comfortably and professionally under intense deadline pressure is crucial.
They must be able to prioritize among competing stories those that are most important to our audience. Must be able to follow directions, perform duties, work well with others and make independent decisions. The producer must be adaptable to changing technologies and expectations.
Must be able to integrate digital content with broadcast coverage. That requires working effectively with the assignment desk, show producers and on-air reporters, navigating a variety of personalities and communication styles.
The candidate must be comfortable with digital technology, as they will manage video livestreams and edit and post video clips to KTLA.com and KTLA's social media channels. Experience with nonlinear video editing and web publishing systems is crucial.
Knowledge of Photoshop or similar photo editing tools is preferred.
Familiarity and comfort with X, Facebook and Instagram are required, and the candidate should be able to think creatively about social posts and must understand how social media is essential to a news organization. The producer should also be willing to adapt, experiment and follow new developments in social media.
Requirements:
Previous experience in a local newsroom, especially on a digital platform or in local television news, is strongly preferred. Producers must be able to respond to breaking news with speed, writing and juggling multiple stories throughout the day and producing clean copy without the support of a copy editor. The ability to continually update and rewrite stories with the newest information - while promptly posting updates on the station's social media accounts - is a must. Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in news required. The candidate must have excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written. The candidate must be flexible about scheduling: The position involves work at various times of the day, including early mornings, nights, weekends and some holidays, as well as last-minute requests to fill in for other producers' sick calls. The producer's schedule may change depending on KTLA's needs.
KTLA will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.
Compensation: $33/hour+ commensurate with skill level and experience.
