Job description

The Lead Content Producer position exists to create, develop, and execute video, article, web content, social media, and special projects for Focus on the Family. This position exists to assist the Manager and team with key written and video communications across a wide array of media channels for Focus on the Family. May supervise other content producers and/or influence outcomes of other content producers at the discretion of leadership.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists leadership with the creative and data-driven development, research, writing, optimization, social media content, and other pieces for traditional and new media as assigned to improve engagement outcomes such as web traffic, social media followers, community following, and so forth.

Content planning:

 

  • Researches and stays abreast of current trends in the digital content space as applicable to the ministry brand
  • Interviews internal and external experts on specified content area
  • Researches keywords, trending topics and competition for search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Researches authors, influencers, and acquires content for various channels
  • Monitors, understands, and utilizes qualitative and quantitative data to enhance engagement outcomes
  • Prioritizes data and finds creative solutions to improve engagement outcomes and grow brand

Publishing:

 

  • Writes short copy frequently and longer articles and scripts routinely
  • Edits and proofreads copy written by outside authors and other team members
  • Plans, scripts, records, and edits videos for online use, both long and short formats
  • Posts articles, social posts, and videos on appropriate Focus platforms
  • Finds or creates items to supplement written and video content:
    • Images
    • Infographics
    • Quotes
    • Links
  • Assists with maintenance of landing pages

Promoting content:

 

  • Creates and posts social media posts

  • Maintains files to document information and quotes used in new content

  • Analyzes successes and failures of content, evaluating trends
  • Seeks training to build new skills
  • Goes through the cycle of pre-planning, production, and post-production
  • Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., printed pieces, photography, voice work, video, music, etc.) for distribution in all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, DVD and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which will be for the benefit of Focus on the Family

Knowledge/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Communication, Film and Production, Communications, English, or Journalism (or related field)
  • Videography skills such as composition of scenes and subject, familiarity with film audio and understanding lighting production process among other things
  • Familiarity with social platforms and producing for social platforms
  • General content management system (CMS) experience required; knowledgeable in website content best practices and content management frameworks; WordPress and SiteCore proficiency preferred
  • Working knowledge of Focus on the Family’s mission, values, and objectives
  • Computer knowledge in a variety of Microsoft Office Tools (required: Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Adobe Premier
  • Experience with an image management system (Canva, etc.) or equivalent preferred
  • Familiar with AP style
  • Basic HTML knowledge beneficial

Pay Range: $66,456 to $79,587
