At WD, our vision is to power global innovation and push the boundaries of technology to make what you thought was once impossible, possible.

At our core, WD is a company of problem solvers. People achieve extraordinary things given the right technology. For decades, we've been doing just that-our technology helped people put a man on the moon and capture the first-ever picture of a black hole.

We offer an expansive portfolio of technologies, HDDs, and platforms for business, creative professionals, and consumers alike under our Western Digital, WD, and WD_BLACK.

We are a key partner to some of the largest and highest-growth organizations in the world. From enabling systems to make cities safer and more connected, to powering the data centers behind many of the world's biggest companies and hyperscale cloud providers, to meeting the massive and ever-growing data storage needs of the AI era, WD is fueling a brighter, smarter future.

Today's exceptional challenges require your unique skills. Together, we can build the future of data storage.

Job Description

The Head of Content is a Senior Manager level role responsible for leading WD's content strategy, editorial planning, and content development efforts across corporate marketing channels. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role for an exceptional storyteller who can independently create content while partnering with technical subject matter experts to bring WD's innovation story to life.

The ideal candidate combines strong editorial judgment, outstanding writing skills, and a deep understanding of enterprise technology and AI infrastructure. They are equally comfortable interviewing engineers, collaborating with executives, managing editorial priorities, and creating content that engages technical and business audiences alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own WD's corporate content strategy and editorial roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities, marketing campaigns, product initiatives, and industry trends.
  • Define content KPIs, build reporting frameworks, and present content performance and strategy recommendations to marketing leadership.
  • Identify gaps in content capabilities and make recommendations for tools, talent, and processes to scale the function.
  • Develop, write, and publish original content across WD's blog, website, social media channels, executive communications, customer stories, video scripts, presentations, and external thought leadership platforms.
  • Serve as the primary author for strategic content initiatives, transforming complex technical concepts into compelling narratives that resonate with enterprise, technology, and executive audiences.
  • Develop and lead WD's YouTube and video content strategy, including scripted series, product explainers, executive interviews, and event content; partner with internal creative teams and production partners on execution.
  • Lead and manage WD's shared editorial and content calendar, coordinating priorities across Corporate Marketing, Product Marketing, Communications, Social Media, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Partner with product marketing, engineering, research, and executive teams to gather insights, conduct interviews, and develop technically accurate content that reflects WD's innovation leadership.
  • Manage relationships with external content vendors, freelancers, and production partners; develop a scalable content operating model as the function grows.
  • Identify and proactively develop content opportunities around key industry themes including AI infrastructure, cloud, data storage, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
  • Drive content distribution and activation strategy across owned channels, partnering with creative, social, web, and digital teams to maximize reach and impact.
  • Support executive thought leadership through authored articles, speaking abstracts, presentations, keynote content, and industry commentary.
  • Own content performance - establishing KPIs, applying SEO best practices, and using analytics to continuously improve effectiveness, engagement, and discoverability.
  • Build and govern WD's editorial standards, style guide, and content quality framework across all corporate marketing outputs.
  • Manage content budget including tools, production, and external resources.
Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in content strategy, content marketing, journalism, corporate communications, or editorial roles within the technology industry.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to create high-quality content across multiple formats and channels.
  • Proven experience independently developing original content from concept through publication.
  • Ability to translate complex technical subject matter into clear, engaging, and audience-focused narratives.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional content planning processes and align editorial priorities across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience developing and executing B2B YouTube or video content strategy, including scripting, series development, and channel growth.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working directly with technical subject matter experts and senior leaders.

Preferred

  • Experience in enterprise technology, AI, cloud infrastructure, data storage, semiconductors, or related B2B technology industries.
  • Experience supporting executive thought leadership and corporate storytelling initiatives.
  • Familiarity with SEO, content analytics, and content performance optimization.
  • Experience developing multimedia content, including video scripts and presentation content.
  • Understanding of emerging trends shaping AI, cloud, and data infrastructure markets.
