What is content development?

Content development is the process of researching, creating, editing, and organizing information for digital platforms such as websites, blogs, social media, and e-learning materials. Professionals in this field ensure that content is accurate, engaging, and tailored to the target audience. Their work often involves collaborating with subject matter experts, designers, and marketers to produce high-quality material that meets business or educational goals.

What are some common challenges content development professionals face when balancing creativity with brand guidelines?

Content development professionals often navigate the challenge of producing engaging and innovative materials while adhering to established brand guidelines and tone. This balance requires creative problem-solving to ensure content is fresh and audience-focused, yet consistent with the company’s messaging and standards. Open communication with brand managers and regular review sessions can help align creative ideas with brand objectives. Developing a strong understanding of the brand’s voice and maintaining a content style guide are also key strategies for success in this role.

Exciting Fully Remote Instructional Designer Opportunity with growing E-Learning Company, SolidProfessor!

Are you passionate about empowering people and leveling the playing field through Education? If so, be a part of the huge growth opportunity in E-Learning solutions at SolidProfessor. Our Company creates online learning experiences for engineers and designers who use some of the world's most popular software applications. Over the past 20 years, we have pursued our passion for learning by developing thousands of hours of online learning experiences for our users. You can expect to be involved in the core creation process for lessons and exercises -- writing scripts, communicating workflows, interpreting information from SMEs, and working alongside Production to finalize lessons. At SolidProfessor, we value cultural fit as much as creativity and technical know-how. We're looking for someone who can elevate SolidProfessor's library as a whole, while keeping the experience of our learners in mind. To be successful here you should be an excellent communicator, be able to debate ideas in pursuit of the best solution, and do so in a respectful and thoughtful way. As a team, we're always open to new ideas, new tools, and new processes, so you should be comfortable in an environment that demands quick and constant learning.

Our culture is driven by our core values - Being People Centric, caring about our team members, customers, and our community; Driving Excellence for ourselves and our customers; and Staying Stragile by seizing opportunities and challenges and adapting quickly. If these values are engrained in your core and you aspire to work at a fun, empowering, and dynamic Company, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!

  • Ability to write effectively and communicate complex ideas in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to clearly articulate your ideas and receive constructive feedback from peers
  • Autonomous, self-driven, detail-oriented, excellent communicator with outstanding time management and interpersonal skills (empathetic, team player, problem solver with excellent conflict management skills)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to quickly learn new software
  • Experience with E-learning content creation, specifically online teaching
  • Ability to work in CAD software to manipulate and setup files as deliverables
  • Knowledge specific to Solidworks, Revit, Mastercam, and similar software
  • Understanding of E-learning content tools such as Articulate Storyline
  • A track record of focus on learning outcomes
