Job description

ENGAGEMENT TERM: 12 weeks, with the potential to extend by mutual written agreement
CONTRACTOR STATUS: Independent Contractor (not an employee of Truth Initiative)
RATE: $50/hour
Opportunity:
Truth Initiative, the nation's largest nonprofit public health organization dedicated to preventing youth and young adult nicotine addiction and empowering quitting for all, is engaging an independent Contractor to produce video content for its digital platforms, with a strong focus on content for Truth Initiative and EX Program social media channels. The Contractor will deliver completed video projects that translate complex public health information into clear, compelling content for key audiences.
Most video shoots will take place at Truth Initiative's office in Washington DC to ensure access to production equipment and brand-consistent locations. Pre-production meetings, brainstorm sessions, and other meetings to take place in the Truth Initiative office to support fruitful ideation and collaboration at mutually agreeable times. Outside of scheduled shoots and meetings, the Contractor will determine their own schedule and work location.
The Contractor is not an employee of Truth Initiative and will not receive employee benefits, participate in employee benefit plans, or be eligible for workers' compensation. The Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and equipment necessary to complete the deliverables described below. The Contractor is free to perform work for other clients during the term of this engagement.
SCOPE OF WORK AND DELIVERABLES:
  • Develop video concepts and production plans based on creative briefs and messaging goals provided by Truth Initiative
  • Produce and deliver high-quality video content optimized for social, web, and digital distribution (an average of two short-form videos per week, with occasional longer form videos)
  • Apply brand guidelines and storytelling best practices to ensure consistency across content for Truth Initiative and EX Program channels
  • Manage production logistics, including lighting, audio, and basic location coordination, using Truth Initiative's on-site studio equipment supplemented by Contractor's own editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred) and any additional equipment needed to complete deliverables
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions while meeting agreed-upon timelines
  • Organize and deliver final video assets and raw footage in the formats and specifications agreed upon with Truth Initiative
PREFERRED CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven experience as a videographer, video producer, or multimedia content creator
  • Strong video editing skills and proficiency with industry-standard tools (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
  • Experience producing digital-first or social media video content
  • Ability to communicate complex or research-based topics in a visually clear and engaging way
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on deadline
  • Ability to incorporate input from multiple stakeholders into final deliverables
  • Familiarity with public health, social impact, or advocacy storytelling
