Job description

WBFF FOX45 , the flagship station of Sinclair Broadcast Group, has an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our award-winning and passionate team. The FOX45 Creative Services department seeks an experienced and creative “Sr. Content Creator” (News promotion producer) to produce news promos and show opens. You will work with the highly awarded and top-rated news operation in Baltimore. Qualified candidates must be able to conceptualize, write compelling and enticing copy, shoot in-studio and in the field, direct talent, write and produce daily news opens, and edit weekly news branding promos for TV and digital platforms. The ability to work well under pressure is vital.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, produce, shoot and edit weekly news branding promos

  • Write and edit news opens (shoot if needed)

  • Work collaboratively with Creative Services team on concepts and execution of branding promos, weekly franchise topicals, POPs, POBs and all other news promos

  • Produce digital (OTT, CTV, Web, Social) and radio promos as needed

  • Ensure workflow from concept to delivery for all on-air elements

  • Continually conceive and maintain idea bank for future implementation

  • Work with news and creative services teams to develop strategies to increase viewership

  • Interact with internal and external peers and/or managers to exchange information related to assigned activities

  • Collaborate with creative news teams daily to ensure accurate on-air messaging

  • Assist in the marketing of the station through other on-air and outside media

  • Work evening hours

  • Assist with station sponsored events as needed

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in broadcast or video production (on-air promotion preferred) is a must

  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling promo copy is an absolute must

  • Ability to comprehend news copy and turn it into an effective marketing message

  • Be a team player and able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Experience directing on-air talent

  • Advanced non-linear editing experience with Adobe Premiere Pro a must

  • Adobe Cloud experience a must (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop)

  • Advanced knowledge of Canon DSLR cameras and videography, motion graphics and creative lighting techniques

  • Strong communication abilities

  • Ability to collaborate with newsroom personnel in a productive, professional, and effective manner

  • Extensive shooting and scripting of both short and long form content

  • A strong understanding of fundamental design, sense of color, typography and composition

  • Advanced knowledge of the post-production process, including media management and encoding video to various formats

  • Ability to maintain a variety of projects and work with varying production styles

  • Ability to maintain digital assets, archives and edit systems

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record

  • Interest in local news, government, and politics is helpful

  • Ability to routinely lift, carry and move equipment more than 40 lbs.

  • A college degree in TV journalism, communication, marketing is preferred

The hourly compensation range for this role is $23.67 to $27.85. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, quarterly and annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
