Job description

The Refrigeration Shop Supervisor is a hands-on supervisor that assists in servicing the needs of the customer while ensuring the safety of the Depot and maintaining high shop productivity.  Responsible for ensuring that ConGlobal meets the customers’ everyday requirements and manages the workforce to meet customer needs as well as profitability and safety goals. The incumbent is expected to work in a fast-paced environment while using superior management, organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Shop Supervisor

  • Manages time effectively to both complete mechanic work personally and manage all elements of running an effective Refrigeration department.
  • Understands and trains technicians/mechanics on all refrigeration, diesel/genset work.
  • Partners effectively with Chassis/Container shop supervisor to ensure both shops are setup for success.
  • Assists in the entire depot operations including safety, administration, maintenance, and productivity.
  • Trains and performs orientation of shop employees and ensures that every employee has the necessary knowledge, skills and ability to perform each task assigned.
  • Manages shop employees to help them meet or exceed shop productivity goals; reports out weekly on productivity metrics.
  • Solves problems with local terminal officials and customers
  • Enforces and upholds all company rules, regulations and policies, and issues all disciplinary action
  • Reviews weekly time and attendance and ensures data is accurate and entered timely manner.
  • Completes all administrative tasks related to shop management
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive mechanic experience specific to shipping container/genset refrigeration, or similar applicable experience.
  • At least 2 years of direct or indirect leadership experience.
  • Universal EPA certification required.
  • Must have exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience in intermodal, transportation, logistics and/or warehousing operations. 
  • Strong work ethic. 
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions
