Job description

We have the following full-time year round employment opportunities within our Nursery Farm Operations division.
 

JOB SUMMARY

Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Spray Applicator to join our large-scale container tree nursery. This is a full-time, year-round position responsible for the health and maintenance of our production areas through precise herbicide and pesticide application. You will work as part of a professional team to ensure our inventory remains pest-free and marketable.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Precision Application: Operate tractors equipped with herbicide booms, hand wands, or backpack sprayers to apply pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides.
  • Targeted Spraying: Execute applications across all designated zones, including production borders, groundcovers, middles, bed edges, and external property boundaries.
  • Chemical Management: Accurately follow complex chemical mixing formulations and procedures to ensure effective application and crop safety.
  • Safety & Compliance: strictly adhere to the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and maintain 100% compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements at all times.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate tractors and specialized spray equipment in accordance with established nursery safety procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain continuous, accurate records of chemical usage, completed workflows, and application logs.
  • Plant Health Monitoring: Act as a "first responder" by identifying and reporting potential plant health issues, pests, or diseases observed during farm rounds.
  • Operational Support: Assist with general grounds maintenance, including mowing, and other duties as assigned by management to support farm health.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Licensing: Must possess a Valid Pesticide License.
  • Experience: Proven experience with chemical spraying and a working knowledge of various pesticides and their applications.
  • Technical Ability: Demonstrated proficiency in operating tractors and calibrated spray equipment.
  • Driving Record: A valid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.
  • Communication: Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are not required but are considered a significant advantage.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Standard Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Weekend Rotation: Alternating Saturdays from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.
  • Flexibility: Hours may vary based on seasonal demands and organizational needs.
  • Pay: Competitive and based on professional experience.
