Plant ManagerThe Plant Manager is responsible for leading the overall operations, performance, and profitability of a high-volume truss manufacturing facility. This position provides strategic and hands-on leadership to ensure the plant consistently delivers safe, high-quality products on time and within budget, while developing a productive, engaged, and accountable workforce.

The Plant Manager oversees all aspects of production, staffing, safety, quality, inventory, equipment, scheduling, and process improvement. This leader establishes production priorities, plans daily workflow, allocates labor and resources, and continuously evaluates manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. A key responsibility is maintaining a safe and organized manufacturing environment. The Plant Manager conducts daily plant inspections, ensures equipment is properly maintained, reliable, and calibrated, and ensures all associates receive required safety and quality training. The Plant Manager is also responsible for identifying operational risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain a safe workplace and protect employees, equipment, materials, and finished products.

The Plant Manager manages along with the General Manager inventory levels and material flow, including weekly lumber and hardware inventories. He also develops plant layouts and workflow strategies that maximize space utilization and optimize the movement of materials through the manufacturing process. This position works closely with production and leadership teams such as Production Managers, Maintenance Mechanics and QA Techs to ensure the plant has the appropriate materials, equipment, tools, and resources to meet customer demand.

The role also has significant responsibility for associate leadership and workforce management. The Plant Manager, along with the Production Managers and Supervisors, evaluate employee productivity and performance, addresses complaints and grievances, provides coaching and accountability, administers disciplinary action when necessary, and actively participates in associate evaluations. The Plant Manager is responsible for staffing decisions, including the authority to hire and terminate associates, and is expected to build a strong team through effective leadership, training, communication, and development.

Additionally, the Plant Manager is responsible for monitoring and reporting attendance, sick time, vacations, and performance information; maintaining accurate timekeeping; completing required operational and financial reporting; and managing the plant budget. This includes completing weekly inventory processes, calculating the weekly BCS spreadsheet, and ensuring daily administrative and operational requirements are completed accurately and on time.

Ultimately, the Plant Manager serves as the leader of the entire manufacturing operation, balancing people, production, safety, quality, inventory, equipment, and financial performance to drive continuous improvement and achieve the plant's operational and business objectives. The successful candidate will lead by example, hold themselves and others accountable, and create a culture where safety, quality, productivity, teamwork, and customer satisfaction are the standard.
