Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Software Engineer - DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role you will design, develop, integrate and test software for our end-user customers and businesses. Specifically, you will be responsible for managing cloud infrastructure tools and data for the Aircraft Ground Systems team. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment. You will analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
Essential Functions
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers
  • Manage cloud infrastructure tools and data.
  • Manage and improve container orchestration and deployment strategies.
  • Develop tools to manage continuous integration, software stack support, code quality and coverage.
  • Ensure and develop tools for monitoring security, privacy, and integrity of data and other resources.
  • Setup an overall Cloud-native Software Factory

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.
  • Active DoD Secret level clearance OR Top Secret (in-scope)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Ability to implement software and scripts in one or more programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Go, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, AND/OR KornShell.
  • Familiar with Software Management and CI/CD tools.
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following Cloud technologies and service providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft (MS) Azure, Google Cloud.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience AND/OR Certification with cloud and container management & security technologies such as: VMWare, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Redhat OpenShift, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Nomad.
  • Experience Architecting, Designing, Implementing, Maintaining, and Administrating micro-services for Cloud and Application Systems tracing to user/system requirements using cloud services such as: Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Experience with at least one of the following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools: Ansible, Puppet, AND/OR Terraform.
  • Experience working in an Agile Framework

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
