Job description

Overview

We are seeking a strategic, creative, and results-driven Social Media Manager to lead the growth and day-to-day management of our social media presence. Reporting to the Director of Content & Creative Strategy, this role will be responsible for developing and executing organic and paid social media strategies, managing content planning and publishing, overseeing creator partnerships and user-generated content initiatives, and driving audience engagement across social platforms. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, leveraging content, community, paid media, and performance insights to strengthen brand awareness, deepen customer connections, and support business growth. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and evolve the social media program of one of the nation's leading sporting goods retailers. This position is NOT remote or Hybrid.


Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy, Planning & Program Development

  • Own the social media content calendar across Meta platforms.
  • Partner with the Director of Content & Creative Strategy to develop and execute organic and paid social media strategies that support business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to grow audience engagement, brand awareness, customer acquisition, and community development.
  • Develop campaign plans, content themes, and seasonal storytelling strategies aligned with marketing priorities.
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, consumer behavior, and emerging social media opportunities.

Paid Social Media Management

  • Manage and execute Meta advertising paid campaigns supporting awareness, engagement, traffic, and conversion goals.
  • Monitor campaign performance and optimize targeting, creative, and budget allocation.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Content & Creative Strategy to test, learn, and scale successful paid social initiatives.
  • Manage campaign budgets and performance reporting.

Organic Social Media & Community Management

  • Manage the day-to-day presence of the brand across Facebook and Instagram.
  • Publish and schedule content utilizing Brandwatch, Meta Business Suite, and other social media management tools.
  • Monitor audience engagement, respond to inquiries as appropriate, and coordinate with customer service teams when needed.
  • Maintain page health, audience growth, and brand consistency across all owned social channels.

Content Creation & Creative Development

  • Create engaging still and video content to support organic and paid social media initiatives.
  • Utilize Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, and emerging creative tools to develop platform-appropriate content.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to execute campaign creative and social storytelling.
  • Contribute creative concepts that drive engagement and support overall marketing objectives.

Creator Partnerships & UGC Programs

  • Manage creator partnerships and user-generated content initiatives.
  • Develop creative briefs and provide feedback on creator-submitted content.
  • Coordinate with creators and influencers to ensure deliverables align with campaign goals and brand standards.
  • Support the continued growth of creator marketing efforts and emerging partnership opportunities.

Analytics, Reporting & Insights

  • Prepare bi-weekly and monthly social media performance reports.
  • Analyze organic, paid, and creator content performance to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Deliver actionable recommendations that inform future content and media strategies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in social media marketing, content strategy, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience managing social media channels for a consumer-facing brand, with preference given to candidates with retail, sporting goods, consumer goods, or agency experience.
  • Proven experience developing and executing social media strategies that drive audience growth, engagement, website traffic, and business results.
  • Hands-on experience managing paid social media campaigns within Meta Ads Manager, including audience targeting, budget management, optimization, and performance analysis.
  • Strong creative instincts with the ability to develop compelling content ideas and translate business objectives into engaging social campaigns.
  • Experience creating social media content using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar creative platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging performance data and insights to inform content and advertising strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms.
  • Highly organized with exceptional project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
