Job description

Hourly Rate: $20-$22/hour + Monthly incentive after 90 days of employment.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Summary:

Acting as the face of the Company on the road and at our customer’s job sites, Acme’s Delivery Drivers are team players tasked with making sure product gets to customers on time and they get the service they have come to expect from Acme. Delivery drivers are responsible for loading their trucks, reviewing orders for accuracy and then ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers on specific routes while providing professional, friendly and courteous customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate company vehicle safely and courteously while following the rules of the road.
  • Verify the daily preventative maintenance of the vehicle and report any problems with the vehicle to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Keep the interior of the truck clean, organized, and safely maintained.
  • Maintains current knowledge of, and complies with, DOT and company requirements and standards. Immediately notifies supervisor of a problem with DOT, driving record status and/or medical certification.
  • Pre-plan deliveries and routes to ensure maximum efficiency and timing deadlines.
  • Compare paperwork with product on truck to ensure accuracy of orders.
  • Inspect and secure all loads on truck.
  • Deliver products/orders to specified job sites as part of multi-stop route via forklift a/o hand unloading.
  • Make note of any discrepancies and report them to the Warehouse Manager as soon as possible.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with any tasks that need doing whenever deliveries are completed and no further deliveries are scheduled.

Qualifications/Skill Set:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent);
  • A minimum of one year experience in a driving position is preferred;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to interact with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly and professional manner;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Understands and practices safe warehouse and job site practices;
  • Self-disciplined and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency;
  • Decisive thinker, with ability to quickly analyze information and make robust decisions;
  • Collaborative, able to work well with a wide range of people both within and outside the company.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee is regularly required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel a computer mouse or other computer equipment; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects; stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;
  • May be required to move or traverse considerable distances in the facility during the course of a workday;
  • Must have the physical abilities to perform essential warehouse tasks;
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to a height of 3-4 feet and load product into trucks;
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time;
  • Ability to ascend/descend a ladder to pull or put away product from shelving and racking;
  • Ability to safely operate a dolly, pallet jack and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies.
