Your Opportunity
As a Construction Manager, the candidate will be Stantec's front-line agent on-site with our client, overseeing the client's construction contractor(s). The construction manager will work closely with the Stantec Project Managers and with the project-specific design teams. The candidate will be in close coordination with the Client's Project Managers and the Client's Operations and Maintenance staff as this role oversees the work of the respective contractors at active water and wastewater treatment facilities as well as pipeline projects, roadway upgrades, and heavy civil works projects. The construction manager provides critically important coordination to minimize impacts to the operations of our clients. Developing rapport with the client staff will be key. The position ensures project goals and objectives are met, administers the owner's construction-related contracts, and coordinates project delivery with internal and external stakeholders.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in constructability reviews
  • Participate in bid reviews
  • Coordinate with Public Outreach, Real Estate, Permitting, Controls, and other functions as necessary
  • Oversees the issuance of all contract correspondence to the construction contractor
  • Recommends construction contractor payment applications
  • Oversees the construction change management process
  • Administers the construction contract by interpreting and enforcing contract documents and verifying quality and safety goals are met
  • Coordinates with inspection staff and outside testing and inspection resources
  • Attend weekly construction coordination meetings, preconstruction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks, and construction closeout
  • Manage the review and approval of submittals, request for information, design clarifications and other construction related documents
  • Coordinate field surveys
  • Monitor and report progress of construction
  • Coordinate with governing agencies
  • Recommend acceptance of substantial and final completion
  • Oversee equipment testing, training, startup, closeout, and warranty tasks
  • Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions
  • Working in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following PMO and company health and safety guidelines and policies and supporting contractor health and safety performance
  • Complete miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent organization skills, capacity to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, and quickly adapt to new priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional client service
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and positive business relationships
  • Effective problem-solving, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with electronic document management systems such as e-builder, EADOCs, Submittal Exchange, etc.
  • Familiarity with construction management and inspection at operating water and wastewater treatment facilities

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) will be considered an asset
  • Ten or more years of related and relevant work experience Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Range:
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA areas - Min Salary $ 120,500.00 - Max Salary $ 180,800.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
