Job Overview
Van Winkle & Company, Inc. Inc is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Traveling Superintendent to lead on-site field operations for complex commercial and multifamily construction projects. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day jobsite execution, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining schedules, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. As a key leader in Field Operations, the Project Superintendent works closely with Project Managers and project teams from pre-construction through closeout to deliver successful projects that positively impact the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager with schedule development, scope definition, buyout, and pre-planning activities
  • Support submittal reviews processed by project teams to ensure constructability and sequencing alignment
  • Maintain and update project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Provide on-site leadership and management of subcontractors, logistics, and overall jobsite flow
  • Lead and participate in subcontractor coordination meetings, pre-installation meetings, and OAC meetings
  • Manage the inspection process and coordinate with inspectors and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Oversee and direct Van Winkle Company on-site labor
  • Manage temporary services including dumpsters, trailers, storage containers, and site logistics
  • Complete daily field reports documenting progress, manpower, and site conditions
  • Utilize construction software and tools including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Project), Procore, and Bluebeam
  • Partner with project team members on quality control throughout all phases of construction
  • Enforce jobsite safety, cleanliness, organization, and security in coordination with the Safety Director and Safety Manager
  • Oversee and manage the punch-out and closeout process
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of superintendent experience in complex commercial construction.
  • Background progressing through the trades, ideally starting in field engineering and/or carpentry
  • Proven experience with steel, concrete, masonry, high-level finishes and wood-framed structures (multi-family, hospitality, student housing, senior living)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead through respect, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to understand and manage the big picture
  • High level of proficiency with construction technology and field management software
  • Willingness to travel throughout Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida, typically within a 4-hour radius of Atlanta
  • A professional review will be completed as part of the onboarding process, in compliance with applicable laws
