Job description

Project Controls & Financial Management Manager

The Project Controls & Financial Management Manager will provide strategic leadership and financial oversight across multiple projects within the project operations group. This role partners with project executives, project managers, and field leadership to drive financial performance, cost certainty, and data-driven decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

This position will focus on integrating cost management, forecasting, scheduling, and risk controls to ensure successful delivery of projects from concept through closeout.


General Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial planning, cost control, and forecasting across a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with company margin and performance targets.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, cash flow projections, and cost reports.
  • Partner with project teams to identify financial risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies at both project and portfolio levels.
  • Support GMP development, buyout strategy, and procurement planning in coordination with estimating and operations teams.
  • Oversee and integrate resource planning and cost-loaded schedules (Primavera P6 or similar).
  • Manage and perform on commitments, change orders, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
  • Establish and manage standardized project controls processes and reporting frameworks across multiple projects.
  • Manage & perform monthly financial reviews and executive reporting for project and portfolio performance.
  • Drive consistency in cost coding, financial tracking, and project analytics tools (CMIC, Procore, etc.).
  • Support development and implementation of risk management strategies, including financial exposure and contingency planning.
  • Lead collaboration with project managers, superintendents, clients, and stakeholders on financial performance and controls.
  • Provide oversight of schedule integration to ensure financial forecasts are aligned with project timelines.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction project controls, cost management, or financial oversight within the vertical construction industry.
  • Strong experience managing multiple projects or a project portfolio.
  • Proven expertise in cost forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of GMP structures, procurement strategies, and contract financial terms.
  • Understanding of construction scheduling (CPM) and integration with cost systems.
  • Proficiency with project financial systems (CMIC, Procore, Oracle, etc.).
  • Advanced skills in Excel and data analysis/reporting tools.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Certifications such as CCP (AACE), PSP, or PMI-SP a plus.

Salary: $100K - $125K
