Service Professor has proudly served West Michigan homeowners for decades, delivering exceptional HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and customer service experiences. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a skilled and reliable Part-Time Handyman / Maintenance Technician to support our facilities and office locations throughout the region.

Position Summary

The Part-Time Handyman / Maintenance Technician will perform general repair, maintenance, and improvement projects at Service Professor facilities and properties. Most work will be performed in the Grand Rapids area, with occasional travel to Lansing or Kalamazoo as needed.

This position is part-time and expected to work approximately 15–20 hours per week and is ideal for someone with experience in commercial maintenance, property maintenance, construction, remodeling, or home renovation.

What You'll Do

  • Repair drywall, patch holes, sand, and finish surfaces
  • Complete touch-up painting and minor painting projects
  • Install TVs, wall mounts, shelving, and office fixtures
  • Install and replace light fixtures, ceiling fans, outlets, switches, and other basic electrical components
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs and fixture replacements
  • Repair doors, trim, hardware, and other building components
  • Assemble furniture and equipment as needed
  • Complete routine facility inspections and maintenance tasks
  • Coordinate materials and supplies needed for projects
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with a high level of craftsmanship
  • Support facility improvement projects and other maintenance needs as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in general maintenance, handyman services, property maintenance, construction, remodeling, or a related field
  • Experience with drywall repair, painting, basic plumbing, and light electrical work
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to occasionally travel to Lansing and Kalamazoo
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work including climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial maintenance experience
  • Experience supporting multiple facilities or locations
  • Background in carpentry, remodeling, or building maintenance
  • OSHA or other safety-related certifications
