Construction Manager

Role Description:

Construction Managers are responsible for overseeing all field operations on FDOT and Turnpike projects within the area. This role will directly oversee multiple project Superintendents working in the region to ensure all safety, production, scheduling, quality, and profitability goals are met. The Construction manager will work closely with project managers and area managers for schedule coordination and resource allocation and will coordinate with clients, engineers, subcontractors and vendors routinely to facilitate project success. A high technical knowledge and strong understanding of FDOT plans and specifications is required to ensure all work is constructed properly and in accordance with these documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure projects in the area remain on schedule and under budget.
  • Implement production goals for each item of work being completed and ensure they are met.
  • Must be proficient in understanding and interpreting FDOT plans. Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with the plans and standards. Ensure the project team is always following these plans.
  • Develop SOPs to ensure a high-quality work product, minimizing punch lists and re-work. Conduct site inspections to verify quality and adherence to the plans and specs.
  • Forecast labor and equipment resources to ensure project schedules are always maintained.
  • Daily communication with all stakeholders in verbal and written formats.
  • Monitor project budgets, prepare progress reports, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate as-built (redline) plan sets are being recorded for all projects.
  • Ensure all material required for the work is procured in advance to avoid scheduling delays.
  • Ability to teach and train employees in the technical skills required to perform the work.
  • Ability to train and develop supervisors to promote organic growth within the company.
  • Work with foreman and superintendents to ensure timesheets are being submitted accurately, complete, and in a detailed format to provide a proper description of work, record of time, and quantity of work performed.
  • Work closely with regional safety managers to ensure company safety procedures and initiatives are being followed.
  • Work closely with regional fleet managers to ensure proper inspections, reporting, and maintenance is being conducted for all company equipment.
  • Assist in the identification and preparation of Change Orders as required.
  • Employees shall always conduct themself in a positive and respectful manner and when interacting with the other contractors, the public, and within the company.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in project scheduling. P6 experience is preferred.
  • High technical knowledge of ITS, signalization, lighting, and tolling work. Prior experience of FDOT or Turnpike work is preferred.
  • Proficient in electrical systems and voltages
  • Understanding of all equipment used in underground, arial and boom work.
  • Proficient in cost reporting and budget adherence.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with all company employees and project stakeholders.
  • Current valid Driver’s License (Required)
  • Minimum High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred but not required
  • Ability to work as part of a team to complete a given task
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied climates
