This role supports the successful delivery of public infrastructure projects through field inspection, documentation, and coordination with contractors, clients, and project stakeholders.

Position Summary:

The Senior Civil Construction Inspector (RPR) provides on-site inspection and construction oversight for municipal and public infrastructure projects. This role ensures compliance with project specifications, supports construction management activities, and serves as a key liaison among contractors, clients, and design teams.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
     Observe and report daily construction progress and monitor compliance with project documents. 
     Maintain accurate daily reports, project photographs, test reports, and record drawings. 
     Track quantities and support the Construction Manager in documentation and reporting. 
     Review progress with contractors and proactively address project issues with project teams. 
     Coordinate with clients, contractors, and third-party testing firms (e.g., soils, concrete, bituminous, bearing). 
     Advocate for site safety and report concerns to contractors and clients. 
     Monitor and document additional work, including change directives and field orders. 
     Assist with construction management tasks and supervise field personnel as needed. 
     Attend preconstruction and progress meetings.

Required Qualifications:

     Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal or public infrastructure construction. 
     Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. 
     Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. 
     Willingness to work extended or irregular hours as required by project needs. 
     Strong interest in construction contract administration within a consulting environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

     Experience with water/wastewater or public works facilities construction. 
     Prior experience as a Resident Project Representative (RPR) or similar role. 
     Familiarity with construction documentation systems and reporting tools. 
     Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Physical Requirements:

     Ability to traverse construction sites with uneven terrain and varying conditions. 
     Ability to stand, walk, and perform field activities for extended periods. 
     Occasional climbing of ladders and access to elevated areas. 
     Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25-50 pounds as needed; reasonable accommodations may be made.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

     Primarily field-based role with exposure to outdoor weather conditions. 
     Exposure to active construction environments, including heavy equipment and noise. 
     Potential exposure to dust, chemicals, and other construction-related materials. 
     Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required; reasonable accommodations may be made.

Additional Information:

     Employment Type: Full-time, hourly or salaried (confirm classification). 
     Work Schedule: Primarily daytime hours with occasional overtime based on construction schedule.
     Work Location: Kalamazoo, MI (field-based).
