What this job involves
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead and deliver complex laboratory, vivarium, facilities and utilities construction projects from inception through closeout. You'll leverage your deep knowledge of laboratory environments to provide strategic guidance to clients, manage project execution across all phases, and contribute to innovative solutions that meet scientific and operational needs. This role requires you to balance technical project management expertise with strong relationship-building skills, creating collaborative environments that drive results while managing budgets, schedules, procurement, quality, and risk for real estate projects in the life sciences sector.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
  • Providing management and daily leadership for JLL project teams while serving as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants at the project level
  • Managing all facets of project management including budget, schedule, procurement, quality, and risk for individual real estate projects across planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout phases
  • Creating and executing project execution plans, implementing communication strategies, and facilitating project meetings to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned
  • Identifying and managing project delivery resources through qualification processes, conducting request for proposals, completing bid analysis, and recommending resources to clients
  • Applying life science project knowledge to assist clients in understanding critical decision points and identifying issues early in the project cycle to prevent costly changes during construction
  • Implementing change management routines to assess change requests, determine impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk, and secure client approvals
  • Managing project documentation governance, ensuring data integrity, monitoring financial reporting, reviewing consultant invoices, and supporting project accounting forecasts and summaries

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to work in and around laboratory and vivarium environments throughout all phases of construction
  • Capability to attend and conduct on-site project meetings and inspections
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-volume office and project site environment with tight deadlines
  • Extended periods working on computers utilizing project management technology tools
  • Flexibility to travel to project sites and client locations as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant project management experience
  • Thorough understanding of Project Management, Building Design & Construction, Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, Building Cost Modeling, and Risk Analysis
  • Highly articulate with clear and analytical approach to problem solving, strong decision-making abilities, and excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Information Technology including Internet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client and vendor relationships with strong conflict resolution and account maintenance capabilities
  • Proven track record of managing project budgets, schedules, and deliverables in complex construction environments

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with project documentation governance systems and quality assurance procedures
  • Strong relationship-building skills across all organizational levels and with external clients
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and data-driven approaches in real estate and construction management
  • Experience developing and mentoring diverse project teams through inclusive communication methods
  • Previous operational experience working in laboratory spaces with ability to leverage that knowledge during the design process
  • Laboratory construction projects, including biology, chemistry, vivarium, cGMP, and/or clinical diagnostic laboratories
  • Familiarity with life science industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements
