Overview

Next 150 Construction, a fully owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company is seeking a General Superintendent. The General Superintendent is responsible for the overall field on a large project, leading a team of superintendents to ensure that company policies and procedures are met in regard to safety, scheduling, budget, quality and customer satisfaction.ย 

Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and their sub-contractors turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project scheduleย 
  • Manages the project budget for general conditions and site servicesย 
  • Develops, documents and communicates the work plan regarding changes made in the fieldย 
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of contract documents to be able to plan ahead and anticipate potential problems before they ariseย 
  • Obtains or verifies that the subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposesย 
  • Verifies safety compliance with all trades; acts as primary safety representative in the field and enforce quality control policiesย 
  • Conducts maintenance and planning of "work-arounds," shutdowns and tie-insย 
  • Establishes credibility among owners, trade contractors, unions etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environmentย 
  • Leads contractor meetings on a regular basisย 
  • Oversees daily reports and documentation using Procoreย 
  • Creates, manages, and updates the project schedule, create and implement contingency plans when necessaryย 
  • Communicates schedule status, updates, and changes to Project Team and Trade Contractorsย 
  • Plans, coordinates and manages jobsite logisticsย 
  • Oversees project quality plan and implements necessary changesย 
  • Resolves jurisdictional disputesย 
  • Tracks production as neededย 
  • Executes self-performing capabilities, workforce planning, and quantifying material needsย 
  • Handles forecasting and projecting cost of workย 
  • Aids in the development of project teamย 
  • Trains direct reports on processes, procedures and completion of daily tasksย ย 
  • Manages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standardsย ย 
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team membersย 
  • Aids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Construction Managementย 
  • 10-15 years of experience on a $15-50+ million commercial/ industrial construction project or multiple projects in a superintendent roleย 
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong technical and communication skillsย 
  • Excellent organizational skillsย 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needsย 
  • Ability to work in a team environmentย 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Procoreย 
  • Knowledge of construction-documenting and drawing, with knowledge of all phases of constructionย 
  • Proficient in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost controlย 
  • Must have strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety planย 
  • Must be able to create an environment where "safety first" is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitudeย 
  • Ability to supervise a project teamย 
  • OSHA 30 hour certifiedย 

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

The pay ranges from $130,000.00-$200,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
