Position Overview
The Aggregate Management Trainee role is a rotational development program designed to build future frontline leaders through hands-on experience, active participation in daily operations, and structured exposure to quarry technical systems and business processes.
This role emphasizes learning by doing-developing practical skills in production, mining operations, and leadership while building the capability needed to progress into Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent roles.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Learn how to operate within CRH's safety culture and how to manage with safety as a value
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety as Tilcon's first core value by actively participating in and supporting a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by actively supporting Tilcon's safety-first culture.
  • Learn aggregate operations through hands-on work across quarry, plant, and mobile equipment environments.
  • Perform and support production, maintenance, and operational tasks to understand workflows and overall performance.
  • Develop knowledge of drilling & blasting, mine plan execution, and material movement to improve efficiency and reduce rehandling.
  • Gain experience with production and performance systems (e.g., PEAK), including production tracking, downtime coding, and performance analysis.
  • Learn and apply applicable MSHA, environmental, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Quality Control to understand product specifications, consistency, and customer expectations.
  • Support small capital projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Build understanding of how operations, maintenance, logistics, quality, and finance drive business results.
  • Participate in cross-site rotations to expand operational and leadership perspective.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, problem-solving, and operational initiatives.
  • Develop leadership skills in communication, decision-making, accountability, and team coordination; observe frontline supervisory practices.
  • Provide team support and informal leadership as development progresses.
  • Gain basic knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial performance.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and actively engage in all development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support operational and development goals.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred in civil, mining, mechanical, or a related engineering or construction-focused discipline.

Work Requirements
  • Internship, co-op, or prior experience in mining, construction, manufacturing, heavy industry, or a similar hands-on operational environment is preferred.

Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check

  • Able to safely drive a vehicle
  • Regular required attendance and reporting ready to begin work at the designated start time
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA
  • Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty & meet the guidelines below:
  • Must pass Pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check and driving record review
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules including: nights, weekends and holidays when necessary
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety
  • Regular and timely attendance is required
