Position Scope:

The Construction Equipment Rental Representative is responsible for generating rental revenue and market share growth by developing and maintaining strong customer relationships for heavy equipment rental solutions. This role actively identifies rental opportunities, manages customer accounts, prepares rental quotations, and coordinates equipment availability to meet customer needs. The Heavy Rents Representative serves as a trusted advisor to customers by recommending equipment solutions, supporting project requirements, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience throughout the rental lifecycle. Success in this role requires strong sales acumen, relationship-building skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities in a fast-paced environment.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements: 

  • Demonstrates ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships while identifying and developing new business opportunities. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and customer requests. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively negotiate and present rental solutions. 
  • Ability to analyze customer needs and provide equipment recommendations that maximize productivity and value. 
  • Working knowledge of heavy construction equipment applications, rental operations, and industry practices preferred.


Education Requirements: 

High school diploma or GED required.


Essential Job Functions: 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, industrial customers, municipalities, and other equipment rental accounts. 
  • Identify and pursue new rental opportunities through prospecting, customer visits, phone calls, and networking activities. 
  • Coordinate with rental operations, transportation, and service departments to ensure timely delivery, pickup, and support of rental equipment. 
  • Conduct regular customer visits and jobsite inspections to assess equipment utilization, identify additional rental opportunities, and ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Maintain accurate account activity, customer information, sales forecasts, and opportunity tracking within CRM systems. 
  • Collaborate with sales, service, and operations teams to resolve customer issues and deliver a seamless rental
  • experience. 
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and customer trends to identify opportunities for business growth. 
  • Negotiate rental rates, terms, and agreements within established company guidelines. 
  • Follow up on all active rentals and expiring contracts to maximize equipment utilization and customer retention. 
  • Assist with collection efforts and ensure customer accounts remain in good standing according to company policies.


Preferred Experience and Skills: 

  • Outside sales experience in equipment rental, construction equipment, heavy equipment, industrial sales, or related industries preferred. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Salesforce, DBS, or other CRM experience is preferred.


Physical and Mental Requirements: 

Must be able to pass background check, physical exam, and drug screening test.


Work Environment: 

Work is performed in a combination of office, customer office, and construction jobsite environments. Frequent travel within the assigned territory.
